CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

1.  Background
Education is to develop the potential of human resources (HR) through teaching
activities. There are two related educational concepts, namely learning
(instruction). The concept of learning is rooted in the student (student) and the
concept of learning is rooted in the educator (teacher). Given the great
importance of education for human life, education must be prioritized as well as
possible so as to obtain the expected results. To carry out education must begin
with the procurement of educational personnel both personally and
professionally, it must be really thought out. Because basically teachers as
educational personnel are field personnel who directly carry out education and
as the spearhead of educational success. education in order to improve
achievement or learning outcomes. effort and awareness of learning Efforts to
improve learning outcomes are not easy to achieve optimally because there are
many factors that affect learning achievement itself. These improvements and
improvements include improving the education system or in ongoing matters
related to learning practices such as the use of learning methods. Currently there
are several learning methods, but researchers are interested in using the
Complete Sentence learning method with Giving Questions and Getting
Answers. The Complete Sentence learning method invites students to work
together by discussing to answer questions by completing answers that are in
accordance with the meter of the lesson. With this Complete Sentence learning
method, in line with this, education currently faces many challenges. One of the
challenges that is quite interesting is the improvement of the quality of education
due to the low quality of education in Indonesia. Various efforts have been made
by education managers to obtain quality students will be actively involved in the
learning process and not just sit quietly listening to the teacher's
explanation. This learning process is expected to make it easy for students to
understand the subject matter and the subject matter can be firmly embedded in
the student's memory so that students can obtain good learning outcomes. While
the Giving Questions and Getting Answer learning method is oriented towards
student activities (student P a g e | 25 Ju rnal Pen upbringing Fisi ka Vol. 4No. 1,

the teacher is only as a facilitator who directs and assists students in
learning. This learning method is active learning that is presented to create a
learning atmosphere that is not monotonous and saturating. In this learning,
students are required to be active and participatory, so that with student activity
it is hoped that it can improve student learning outcomes in physics subjects
which have been considered unsatisfactory compared to other subjects. Based on
preliminary observations, SMPN 1 Sampaga is a school located in Mamuju
Regency with adequate facilities, including that each student has a course
handbook and there is a learning park so that students can study anywhere
during the school schedule for the development of science. However, based on
the results of interviews with teachers of physics class VIII subjects at the
school, there are still class VIII students, the scores of physics subjects are still
below the established standards. Therefore, researchers want to study more
about the effectiveness of the combination of Complete Sentence learning
methods with Giving Questions and Getting Answers on the learning outcomes
of physics students in grade VIII SMPN 1 Sampaga, Mamuju Regency.

2. Purpose
The objectives to be achieved in this study are:
a. To find out the results of learning physics before using a combination of
Complete Sentence learning methods with Giving Questions and Getting
Answers for class VIIIA students of SMPN 1 Sampaga, Mamuju
Regency.
b. To find out the results of learning physics after using a combination of
Complete Sentence learning methods with Giving Questions and Getting
Answers for class VIIIA students of SMPN 1 Sampaga, Mamuju
Regency
c. To determine the improvement of learning outcomes after using a
combination of Complete Sentence learning methods with Giving
Questions And Getting Answers for grade VIII students of SMPN 1
Sampaga, Mamuju Regency.

3. Literature Review Learning methods are a way of delivering subject matter in an

effort to achieve learning objectives. Method is a way of teaching that has been
compiled based on certain principles and systems. Learning methods are used by
teachers to create a learning environment and underlie teacher and student
activities (Abdullah, 2014: 90). In relation to learning, methods are defined as
ways of presenting the subject matter to students for the achievement of the
objectives that have been applied. Thus, one of the skills that a teacher should
have in learning is the skill of choosing a method. Therefore, one of the very
basic things for teachers to understand is how to understand the position of the
method as one of the components for the success of teaching and learning
activities as important as other components in the overall educational component
(Rahman, 2013: 28). The Complete Sentence learning method is an easy and
simple learning method in which students learn to complete rudimentary
paragraphs by using the available answer keywords. The principle of learning
the Complete Sentence method is an easy and simple learning method in which
students learn to complete rudimentary paragraphs using the available answer
keys, the questions submitted are in the form of incomplete sentences, so that the
meaning / meaning of the sentence is not yet understandable, sentences that are
many and interrelated in a paragraph, and rudimentary and not yet understood
the meaning, Sentences can be equipped with a choice of words provided and
must be filled with certain words, for example scientific terms / foreign words
and answers to incomplete sentences that have been provided (Purnomo,
2012). The Giving Question And Getting Answer learning method is the
implementation of constructivistic learning strategies that place students as
subjects in learning. That is, students are able to reconstruct their own
knowledge while / EducationPhysics teachers are only as facilitators. The
method of Giving Question And Getting Answer was invented by Spancer Kaga,
a Swiss national in 1963. This method was developed to train students to have
the ability and skills to ask and answer questions, because basically the model is
a modification of the question and answer method and the lecture method which
is a collaboration using pieces of paper as the medium (Rouf, 2012: 15).

4. Research Benefits The research results are expected to provide the following
benefits:
a. For researchers, this research can add insight and experience about how to
learn physics by using learning methods appropriately, learning goes
well. order process
b. For teachers, as an alternative learning method to create an active and
efficient learning atmosphere.
c. For students, making students more active in learning physics and more
likely to use a higher level of thinking in solving problems so that they
can obtain better learning outcomes.
d. For schools, it is used as a consideration in policy making, especially in an
effort to improve student learning outcomes, so that student learning
achievement is as expected.
