Gimkit

PROGRAM OF STUDY OUTCOMES

General Outcome: Students multiply and divide natural numbers within 10 000.

Knowledge:

Recall of multiplication and division number facts facilitates multiplication and division strategies

Standard algorithms facilitate multiplication and division of natural numbers that have multiple digits

Understanding:

Multiplication and division strategies can be chosen based on the nature of the numbers

Skills and Procedures:

Solve problems using multiplication and division

Recall and apply multiplication number facts, with factors to 12, and related division number facts.
Examine standard algorithms for multiplication and division
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Multiply numbers from 0-12
2. Divide numbers with factors of 1-12 within 100
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT
• Computers
• Gimkit

PREPARATION AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS

• Students need a Chromebook each
• CJ will work with learning support teacher on the computer towards his ISP goals

PROCEDURE
Introduction Time

are team vs team games where students help their 21 min
team win and level up by solving multiplication and
2
division questions. Students also lose points for
incorrect answers
2) Questions feature multiplication with multiples of 1-
12, and division within 100 both with factors from 1-
10
3) Questions have a range of difficulty, from 1x0 to
multiples of 12
4) Encourage students to use a looseleaf to help with
questions when needed
5) The three games played will be humans vs zombies,
capture the flag and snowball fight for 7 minutes each
Conclusion Time
• Students will clean up, put Chromebooks away, stack chairs, pack up their
