NOTES:
1) This Bill shall be read in conjunction with the Tender

Drawings, Specifications, Preliminaries and Preambles to
the Bills of Quantities attached.
2) The word "as described" where used in this Bill shall

mean as described in the above documents.
3) Before pricing of the foregoing Bills of Quantities, the

tenderer shall visit the site and determine for himself
the nature and conditions of the site and the extent of
itemised works on site. All rates shall allow for this.
4) The Contractor shall allow in his rates for all bulk

excavation works to be carried out as per required
sequence and stages specified in drawings or instructed
otherwise by the Engineer.
5) The Contractor shall ensure no ponding on site during

the course of the work.
6) Rates to include Mobilization and subsequent

demobilization upon completion of all necessary plant,
labour and machineries. Rate is also to include
construction or strengthening of temporary access
routes and working platforms, protection or diversion of
existing services, maintenance and subsequent
reinstatement upon completion.
7) Contractor to submit pre-commencement or record

survey to cover as per built items of topography and
level around working area prior to commencing the
works. The survey works must be endorsed by a licensed
surveyor . This survey will serve as the baseline record
depicting the existing levels/profile. All survey works are
subject to Engineer's instruction and approval.
8) The quantity given is measured nett based on cutting

and filling and the Contractor shall allow in his rate for
increase in bulk.
9) The Contractor shall get clearance from the various

authorities regarding any existing underground cables,
water mains, pipes, etc within the site before
commencement of excavation works. Any costs arising
from the contractor's failure to do so will be borne by
the contractor.

10) Rock in excavation works:
The volume of the rock excavated shall be taken as its

volume insitu before it is broken up. The volume of rock
on which extra is payable shall be measured and agreed
upon weekly with the Engineer and to Engineer's
approval.
Rock in excavation works shall mean 'Rock' found in

ledges or masses in its original position or artificial
material, which would normally have to be loosened
either by blasting or by pneumatic tools, or if excavated
by hand, by the continued used of wedges and sledge
hammers and in the opinion of the Engineer is incapable
of being loosed with a track-type tractor with mounted
and drawn ripper of the following description:
Tractor Unit: Equipment with a minimum mass of 25

tonnes and nett horse power rating of 350 horsepower,
or more. The tractor unit is to be in good condition and
operated by experienced personnel skilled in the use of
ripping equipment.
Ripping Unit: The ripper to be attached to the tractor

shall be the most efficient parallelogram type
recommended by the tractor or ripper manufacturer.
The ripper shall have a single shank in first class
condition with a sharpened cutting point.
Rock in trench or pit shall not include material which in

the judgement of the Engineer, can be excavated by the
excavator. Only solid boulders or detached pieces of
rock exceeding 1 cubic metre in volume shall be
regarded as rock.
DEMOLISH
A Allow for demolish existing road, kerb, demolish and Item

dismantle existing structure and cart away to
contractor's own dump site, dimantle relocate the
existing services as necessary, diversion of drain and
waterways and any other associated works as approved
and directed by the S.O.

SITE CLEARANCE
A Clear, remove and dispose off site of all bushes, debris, m2 47,325
roots etc within the works boundary and to contractor's
own dumping area including making all necessary for
disconnection, removal and if necessary the relocation,
diversion or extension of services etc as directed by the
S.O and to the Local Authorities approval
B Stripping of topsoil average depth 150mm and stockpile m2 47,325

for reuse to the location as approved by the S.O.
EARTHWORKS
C Excavate in cuttings or in bulk commencing from existing m3 6,408

ground level to formation level including backfill, deposit
and spread, well compacted of excavated materials in
making up levels or forming embankment, benches,
berms to the slope and levels where directed within the
site as described to the S.O's approval.
D Excavate unsuitable materials below formation in m3 321

cuttings including disposal to Contractor's own dump
site as approved by the S.O.
E Excavate rock in cuttings or in bulk including blasting and m3 321

dispose to Contractor's dump site as approved by the
S.O.
F Import suitable backfilled materials from contractor's m3 19,572

own site, spread to final requisite levels, grades and the
bottom of each layer shall be well treated and
compacted in making up levels and described
TEMPORARY DRAIN
G Temporary earth drain channel overall size (extreme) m 700

600mm x 900mm deep including all necessary
excavation and trimming to forming slopes, close turfing,
forming cascades and bends all as per Engineer's
Drawing LD1/ESCP/DT/2001

TEMPORARY TRAPEZOIDAL DRAIN
A Temporary trapezoidal shape drain overall size m 395

12000mm width x 2000mm deep (extreme) including
all necessary excavation and trimming to forming slopes,
500mm x 500mm compacted trench backfilled with
soil/sand, complete with geotextile sand filled mattress
all as per Engineer's Drawing No. LD1/ESCP/DT/2001
B Allow for maintenance and desilting of all temporary Item

earth drain, temporary precast concrete drain and
temporary brickwall sump as and when necessary
throughout the construction period as instructed to the
satisfaction and approval of the S.O.
SILT FENCE
C 700mm (minimum) high temporary silt fence m 1,392

constructed of 50mm x 100mm x 1300mm long timber
stakes at 6.0m centres (maximum) and fixed with tie
wires self supporting geotextile including framing
100mm x 150mm deep trench with compacted backfill,
all as per Engineer 's approval and to Drawing No.
LD1/ESCP/DT/2004
D Allow for maintenance, repair and replace as and when Item

necessary of all silt fence throughout the construction
period including remove from site as instructed and to
the satisfaction and approval of the S.O.
CHECK DAM

Construction and completion of check dam for 600mm x
900mm deep temporary earth drain channel (measured
seperately) consisting of aggregate or recycled concrete
with 200mm thick rock trenched including all necessary
excavation and trimming to forming slopes all to S.O's

SEDIMENT BASIN
A Construction and completion of sediment basin overall No. 1

size (extreme) 19.60m x 64.60m x 1.90m depth (Type
SB3) including all necessary excavation and forming
slopes, approved gradded stone aggregate, storage
andsilting zone filter, chamber riser constructed with
600mm diameter x 5mm thick mild steel pipe riser with
5mm thick capping at bottom, 5 rows of 6 nos. of 30mm
diameter holes around the circumference of the pipe at
150mm, 6mm thick metal anti-vortex plate, tack welded
to top of perforated riser with 10mm diameter
reinforcement, brickwork with plastering internally to
hold the pipe riser vertically laid on 1200mm x 1200mm
x 150mm thick reinforced concrete grade 20 slab with a
layer of BRC A7, 50mm thick concrete grade 10 as
described blinding, 600mm diameter class 'X' R.C. pipe
butt ended with collar 500mm long mild steel short
piece with diameter to suit R.C. pipe and welded to pipe
riser, concrete haunching on 150mm thick reinforced
concrete grade 20 slab with a layer of BRC A7, complete
with earth drain and bund consists of suitable earth fill
material to be constructed and compacted in layers with
close turfing to crest and downstream face complete
with reinforced concrete outlet structure, 300mm thick
mortared rip rap lining for 20.0m x 0.45m high
emergency spill way and everything else necessary
including desilting and maintenance as to the
satisfactory and approval of the S.O. as per Drawing
No.LD1/ESCP/DT/2001

Notes :
1) This is Provisional quantities Contract subject to

remeasurement.
2) The contract sum be deemed to be complete

and inclusive of all works, whether permanent of
temporary and materials necessary for satisfactory
of the works as infered from drawings, etc. & part A
: Preliminaries
3) For the purpose of valuation of variations, any

omissions/additions to contract sum shall be based
on measured quantities, applying the relevent units
rates or pro-rated unit rates, as the case may be in
accordance with conditions of building contract
annexed here to.
4) The items are not fully descriptive in themselves

and are not mean to limit the scope of works. The
contractor shall fully determine the fully scope of
each item and price accordingly. No claim will be
entertained to the ignorance or lack information.
5) Allow for the production, submission and

approval of all shop drawings by Landscape
Architect. All cost in connection herewith shall be
deemed to be included in Contract Sum.
6) The onus in on Contractor to obtain all necessary

permit/approval from the relevant Statutory
bodies.
7) Allow for the location of hard landscape
structure other than the designated locations
drawings.
8) The contractor shall be deemed to include all

costs involved to providing the structural integrity
of all the hard landscape's structure into the
Contract Sum.
