INTRODUCTION

What is Ecosystem? According to Tansley (1935) ecosystem is an ecological unit in

which there is structure and function. Structure in this sense is related to species
diversity or species diversity. One of them is the mangrove ecosystem. According
to Warsono (2000) mangrove ecosystems can only be found in tropical and
subtropical areas and can thrive in environments such as shallow beaches, river
estuaries and islands. Most types of mangroves grow well on muddy soils. ,
especially in areas of accumulated silt.

Data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in 2015 shows that 23% of the
world's mangrove forests are in Indonesia. Based on the results of mapping by
Bakosurtanal in 2009, the area of mangroves in Indonesia is around 3.2 million ha spread
over various islands (Hartini et al., 2009). The data shows that mangrove forests in
Indonesia as an archipelagic country are quite extensive, and are a structural part in
supporting the population of mangrove forests in the world. Mangrove forests, which
should be a shield for an archipelagic country like Indonesia, have decreased from year to
year due to damage, which then affects the mangrove ecosystem. The decline in the
mangrove ecosystem due to damage to mangrove forests can be found along the
northern coast of Java. Fadel (2010) in Soeprobowati and Suedy (2010) stated that the
north coast of Central Java, with a coast length of 325 km, experienced the worst
mangrove damage compared to the coasts of West Java and East Java. The damage to the
mangroves has reached 96.5% (62.5% is heavily damaged
and 32% were slightly damaged), while only about 3.5% were not damaged (Puryono, 2009).

Pollution of mangrove forests is the main cause of the decline in the quality of ecosystems and forest

damage in the form of heaps of garbage from village domestic waste disposal as well as from

surrounding coastal areas which are tourist attractions. "Then what method can be a solution to the

waste pollution that damages the mangrove ecosystem? “

Discussion

Mangrove forests play an important role in preventing abrasion, protecting against rising
sea levels due to climate change, and being one of the ecosystems that plays a role as a
habitat for fish to spawn. The mangrove forest ecosystem is an ecosystem located in a
muddy area, so that the ecosystem is inhabited by several species of fauna such as the
Laga Crab.fiddler crab (Uca sp),Sempor Crab /Semaphores Crab (Hyoplax sp),Mudfish /
Mudskiper (Periophthalmus sp),Gun shrimp /Shrimp Pistol (Alpheus Sp), Land hermit
crabs /Land Hermit Crab (Coenabita sp),Mangrove hermit crabs /Mangrove Hermit Crab
(Clibanarius sp)and many more.

Of all the types of fauna that live in mangrove forests, the condition of mangrove forests is an

important and key point in the survival of all these types of fauna, mangrove forests that are

clean and protected from pollution will affect the fauna species in them and can then increase

species populations. However, if the mangrove forest is polluted, the population of mangrove

forest species will decrease. If pollution occurs, it will open the possibility for mangrove forest

fauna species to become extinct and have an impact on the surrounding ecosystem.

Introduction to the Water Filter Concept in Preventing Garbage

To prevent damage to the mangrove ecosystem, it is necessary to take action to

prevent the accumulation of waste in the mangrove forest area, especially in the
Rembang mangrove forest area, so as to minimize the existing damage. One form of
prevention that can be done is to clean the mangrove forest area from garbage. The
type of activity is in the form of mutual cooperation activities as a form of participation
from both mangrove-loving organizations and the surrounding community. However,
the activity of cleaning the mangrove forest area from garbage is inseparable from
the amount of effort, the time required is quite long and the manpower required
excluded, because indeed, the mangrove forest area is quite extensive and the terrain is also

muddy.

From these obstacles, an innovative method is needed so that cleaning mangrove

areas becomes faster and more efficient. As is the case with the concept used in
an experiment in biology, which explains that to get clear water from water that
was initially cloudy/dirty, you need to filter it. water with ingredients consisting of
coconut fiber, gravel, sponge, brick, charcoal and sand. The concept is shown in
the picture.

Application of the Water Filter Concept Through "CEFILSAMHUROVE"

From this concept we can apply it to create an innovation that can prevent waste
accumulation in mangrove areas, namely by "CEFILSAMHUROVE” : Mangrove
Forest Garbage Filter Basin.

What does "CEFILSAMHUROVE" mean?

"CEFILSAMHUROVE" is an application or idea for making a basin that can filter waste
that drifts into the mangrove area. "CEFILSAMHUROVE" will later be in the form of
installing filters from nets around the mangrove area or around the mangrove forest,
the nets used will be installed slightly protruding towards the edge of the beach so
that later trash will not accumulate near the mangrove trees, the type of net that will
be used is nets which has a hole that is not too big or relatively medium so that later
the trash can be trapped in the net but the fish in the mangrove waters will still be
able to swim and not be obstructed by the net. The nets are installed with a height/
width of approximately one meter, half a meter wide nets will be installed vertically
and leave another half meter net. Then the remaining half meter of netting can be
used for the arch. The net is attached/attached to the support in the form of
a little more than one meter of bamboo that is stuck into the ground firmly so that
the net has a vertical position around the mangrove forest. The remaining half
meter below the net will not only be left hanging, but the lower part of the net will
be pulled forward and tied with wooden stakes and then stuck into the ground, so
that later the shape of the net will be in the form of an arch towards the front.
Under the arch of the net, a depression will be made that is not too deep,
approximately 60 cm along the length of the net that is installed around the
mangrove forest. The function of the basin is when the sea water rises/tide, the
trash will be netted, but when it recedes, the garbage will fall into the basin. and
don't drift back out to sea,

Example of 'CEFILSAMHUROVE” animation framework

With the existence of "CEFILSAMHUROVE", plastic waste will be blocked and netted when it
drifts towards the mangrove area and will later collect in the basin. Thus, the positive
effects of "CEFILSAMHUROVE" will be obtained and the cleanliness and sustainability of the
mangrove forest ecosystem will improve again from damage due to landfills.

Required costs and solution solutions

The costs that will be incurred when making this filter basin cannot be said to be
small, because in making the filter basin it requires a component of the cost of buying
nets that adjust the circumference of the mangrove forest, and the funds used to
pay for the labor that makes the basins. Even so, if efforts to prevent landfills with
"CEFILSAMHUROVE" can be implemented, I'm sure not only the mangrove
ecosystem will improve but the filter basin can help mangrove forests return to
their optimal function in producing fresher air around forest areas. the quality of
mangrove trees will increase and the amount of oxygen produced will be more.

The big problem of the funds needed, can be found a solution, namely by the contribution and

cooperation between communities around the mangrove area or from mangrove lover

organizations and the government, because by submitting reports from the community around

the mangrove area to the government to realize the formation of filter basins in mangrove

forests With this, costs can be reduced, because they are shared so that they are not

burdensome to either party, from the government or the community.

Communities can also contribute to caring for mangrove forests by carrying out
community service activities in making basins so that the length of time for making basins
can take place quickly and immediate benefits can be obtained both for the sustainability
of the mangrove forest ecosystem and local residents.

Conclusion

From the subject matter based on the discussion of the problems and solutions
described, it can be concluded that the creation of the "CEFILSAMHUROVE" filter basin
is expected to be a form of application that the Rembang community can use to
improve the order and quality of the mangrove forest ecosystem as well as a form of
prevention (preventive)from heaps of garbage that can potentially damage mangrove
plants, surrounding ecosystems such as coastal ecosystems and other environmental
damage that can occur.

It is also hoped that the mangrove ecosystem consisting of fauna species and
types of mangrove plants can be saved from damage, mangrove forests will
function again optimally as a barrier to high sea water due to climate change,
prevention of abrasion and as a habitat for fish to spawn.
