Motivation/Energizer Is everybody ready for our class today?

Today we will have a group activity.

Is everyone seated with their groupmates? Yes Ma’am

Let’s start it with an energizer entitled “TELL ME!”

Direction: Do not READ the word, Say the COLOR of the

word.
I will call a group one by one. When I called your group
name all the member will stand up and answer me in
chorus, but when the group that I called was not able to
answer other group may steal the chance to answer.

Are you ready? Yes Ma’am

(the students will

Did you get energized? participate)

In what way? Yes Ma’am

Possible answer:
Ma’am I think it is for
knowing the correct
color and follow the
direction.
Review/ Recall Now, Let us review the different networking hand
tools/materials that we discussed last meeting.

Raise your hand if you want to answer.

What is this ?
-RJ45 connectors

So what can you say about RJ45 connector? Rj45 have an eight-
wire connector that
used to connect
computer to 4
unshielded twisted
pair cables in a
network.
Very Good!

-UTP cable

UTP stands
Unshielded Twisted
pair

UTP is the most

common cable that is
Used in networking.

Enough with the review.

4. Activity Since all of you are familiar with these different tools and
materials, this morning I will demonstrate how to create a
Strategy : Straight through Ethernet cable.

Watch and Learn Who can define Straight through Ethernet cable? Possible Answer:
Ma’am straight
through is Ethernet
cables are the
standard cable used
for almost all
purposes especially in
the computer shop.
Excellent!
Ma’am they also
You want to add something? Yes? called "patch cables”

Very Good

Now, Watch and learn as I demonstrate the procedure in

creating a straight though cable. You can list down all
your queries and questions, and it will be answered later.

1. Cut the plastic sheath Into 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the

end of the cut cable.

2. Unwind and pair the similar colors.

3. Pinch the wires between your fingers and set the color
into: WO-O-WG-B-WB-G-WBR-BR. This set of color is
very important because each color have an equivalent
number.

4. Use the lower part of

the crimping tool to make a straight cut across the 8
wires.

5. Carefully push all 8

unstripped colored wires
into the connector.
TAKE NOTE: the clip
should be away from you.

6.Place the connector into the crimping tool and clinch

down all the copper splicing tabs on the connector that
will pierce into each of the eight wires

7. Repeat all steps and wire color order on the other end
of cable

8. To check the integrity of the cable use a CABLE

TESTER.

• The series of the light is 1- 8 means it is a

functional cable.
• The series of the light is alternating means you
need to crimp the cable all over again.
• The series of the light is inter-changing means
you need to use another UTP cable or just CUT
the end of the cable.

5. Analysis Class, I’m done. Are you exited to create your own.
Before that let us analyse what I just did.
Who can give me the first step in creating a straight-
through Ethernet cable? Ma’am Cut the wire
Yes please! using the crimping
tool to remove the
plastic covering.

Yes, Ma’am, 1 inch

Good, Do we have to measure from the end of the wire
Ma’am you separate
After cutting it, What’s next? the wire from each
other

Ma’am pair the

similar colors and
What is the next thing to do After the separation arrange it to the series
of color that you gave.

Not really ma’am, the

Very good, but are they really similar with each other? other color has stripe

Nice one…. This is the

series of color to be
arrange.
Kindly read it ______
Well said…
What is the next step? Cut the wires to make
the end straight
Very good…
Put it inside the rj45

What should be carefully noted when inserting the wire The clip of the rj45
into the rj45. must be away from
you.

Insert the rj45 into the

crimping tool and
clinched it down until
you hear a pierce
sound.

Next step please….

How do we know, we have created a functional cable? Ma’am insert the two
ends of the cable into
the tester, turn it on,
and the light must be
1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8

Very good.

What is not clear on the procedure?

Can somebody answer your classmates query?

6. Abstraction To deepen you’re understanding, Let’s have another

group activity Entitled “TO KNOW ME BETTER”
DIRECTION: Arrange the following procedure in creating
straight through Ethernet. Number it 1 to 8 . Once your
done. Post your answer on the board. I’ll give you 1
minute to do that. The first group to post with all correct
answers will receive additional 2 points and those who
are not will receive 1 point.

Procedures:
_____A. Unwind and pair the similar colors
_____B. Cut the plastic sheath about 1 inch (2.5 cm)
from the end of the cut cable.
_____C. Carefully push all 8 unstripped colored wires
into the connector.
_____D. Use the lower part of the crimping tool to make
a straight cut across the 8 wires.
_____E. Pinch the wires between your fingers. Set the
color into: WO-O-WG-B-WB-G-WBR-BR.
_____F. To check the integrity of the cable use CABLE
TESTER.
_____G. Carefully place the connector into the crimping
tool and clinch down all the copper splicing
tabs.
_____H. Repeat all steps and wire color order on the
other end of cable.

You’re timer starts now! Time’s Up

Let’s check your answers.

Is it enough that we know the procedure in creating the
cable? No Ma’am

So what else should be remembered while practicing the

skill? Practice safety

How do we know that we are doing the safe thing?

Answers may vary

7. Application I believe that you fully understand the steps in creating

straight through Ethernet cable. Now you’re going to
create your own Straight through Ethernet cable, but you
are still in your group because of the tools that you’ll be
using .Once you are done, the cable tester is here in
front, checked it if your cable is functional, if its ok, get a
number here, write your name on it, the number you will
receive will be your additional points.

May I request 1 representative from your group to get

your tools and materials here.

How I’m going to grade you in doing this application

activity?

8. Evaluating For your assessment. Get ¼ sheet of paper. Answer (the students will
Learning only. answer the test)
DIRECTION: Supply the missing word:
1. Cut the plastic sheath about _______ (2.5 cm) from 1 inch
the end of the cut cable.
2. _______ and pair the similar colors. Unwind
3. Pinch the wires between your fingers. Set the color
into:
______________________. WO-O-WG-B-WB-G-
4. Use the lower part of the ____________ to make a WBR-BR
straight cut across the 8 wires.
5. Carefully _____ all 8 unstripped colored wires into the Crimping tool
connector.
6. Carefully place the connector into the crimping tool Push
and _______ down on all the copper splicing tabs.
7. ______ all steps and wire color order on the other end
of cable Clinch
8. To check the _______ of the cable use CABLE
TESTER.

9. Additional For your assignment. (the students will

activities or  Search the meaning of Cross Over Ethernet copy their
application or Cable assignment)
remediation
 What is the difference between Straight through
and Cross over?

Goodbye Class

Goodbye Ma’am,
thank you so much for
