Clerkship Journal Entry Week #3

On our 3rd week, we’re assigned at Brgy. Diit District Health Center. It's

unfortunate that the Northern Barangays especially at the nearby areas of Diit District

Health Center are currently affected by water contamination, leading to a higher

incidence of Acute Gastroenteritis and Diarrhea among the patients we’re managing.

However, your presence at the health center provides an opportunity to make a positive

impact on the community's health during this challenging time. In addition to the

immediate patient care, it's crucial to work collaboratively with local authorities,

community leaders, and other healthcare professionals to address the water

contamination issue. Advocating for clean water sources and participating in public

health initiatives can contribute to the long-term prevention of waterborne diseases in

the affected areas.

Dealing with a challenging situation like a water contamination crisis in the

Northern Barangays can be demanding but also an opportunity to make a significant

impact on the affected community. My involvement in managing patients affected by the

water contamination crisis made a significant difference in the community's health and

well-being. By providing appropriate care, education, and support, we contributed to

mitigating the impact of the crisis and promoting the recovery and resilience of the

affected community.

With Dr. Escape’s guidance, I learned how to manage the crisis of water

contamination in Brgy. Diit. Managing a crisis of water contamination requires ongoing

efforts, including continuous monitoring, evaluation of interventions, and adapting

strategies as needed. The collaboration between healthcare professionals, community

leaders, and relevant stakeholders is crucial in effectively addressing the crisis and

ensuring the long-term safety of the water supply.
