Head pond

Head pond site is located on the hill in a gentle slope. The lithology of head pond site is seemed to be soil
which mixed with andesite boulders. Since the head pond will not be a heavy structure, it is judged that the
foundation has enough bearing capacity and no special measure is required, in case that the structure is
constructed on excavated foundation. However some part nearby head pond site should be paid additional
attention during construction phase. There is a moderately steep to steep slope in the southwest and south
side of the head pond site. The unorganized water may be the trigger of failure, especially in that area. So
that water should be flowed through adequate drainage ditch during construction phase.
Assuming the geology of head pond quite similar with waterway lane which hard soil is distributed at 4-6
m depth, it is recommended to lay the head pond foundation at 4-6 m depth or more. It will require relatively
deep excavation. The excavation process will be done by excavator.
