Introduction
This monitor can be used as an
alphanumeric and graphic display unit for
I' home and personal computers. The
screen itself is anti-reflecting which
means that the legibility of the data is
extremely good. The monitor has a
composite video signal input. Some of
-the models also have an audio signal
input.

for further information.
Connection to the mains supply
(for UK only)
Your new monitor is designed to operate
from an a.c.mains supply of 220-240
volts, 50 Hz. Stabilising circuits ensure
satisfactory performance within normal
supply variations.
Important: This apparatus must be
earthed. This can be achieved by fitting a
3 pin plug. The wires in the earthed
mains lead are coloured according to
the following code:
BLUE = NEUTRAL
BROWN =LIVE
GREEN/YELLOW= EARTH
If the mains plug (or adaptor) contains a
fuse, the value of this fuse should be
3 Amp. Alternatively, if another type of
plug (not fused) is used, the fuse at the
.distribution board should not be greater
:than 5 Amp.
If the colours of the wires in the mains
lead do not correspond with the
coloured markings identifying the
terminals in your plug, proceed as
ollows ...
The BLUE wire should be connected to
the terminal marked 'N' or coloured
black.
The BROWN wire should be connected
to the terminal marked 'L' or coloured
red.
The GREEN and YELLOW wire must be
onnected to the terminal in the plug

marked by 'E' or the earth symbol ~. or
coloured green or green and yellow.
Before replacing the plug cover, make
certain that the cord grip is clamped
over the sheath of the lead - not simply
over the three wires.
Service for you
Your monitor has been designed and
manufactured to the highest standards,
and subject to rigorous testing. Provided
it is properly operated and maintained it
will perform well for many years.
However, we all know that in such
complex equipment components can
sometimes fail.
The legal responsibility for meeting any
in-guarantee service neeqs for your
receiver rests with the dealer from whom
you bought it. Our own Service Division -
Philips Service - provide your dealer with
comprehensive technical advice, and
distribute approved spare parts from
their Service Centres throughout the
country.
If your dealer has no service facilities, he
can arrange for any work to be carried
out by a competent third party ·
organisation.
In any event you may expect speedy
attention to restore your set to full
working order without delay.
Free service for 12 months:
The dealer from whom the receiver was
purchased will arrange for any defect in
manufacture or material to be rectified
without charge for a period of 12 months
from the date of initial consumer sale
provided:
(1) reasonable evidence is supplied that
the set was purchased within 12 months
prior to the date of claim
(2)the defect is not due to use of the
set on an incorrect voltage or contrary
to the Company's Operating Instructions
or to accidental damage (whether in
transit or otherwise) misuse; neglect; Operation
unauthorised or inexpert modification, or

Positioning
Ventilation
In order to prevent overheating, ensure
that the ventilation openings in the
monitor are not covered.
The monitor should not be placed near a
source of heat.

Connection to the mains supply

The monitor should be connected to a
mains voltage of 220 V/50 Hz (for ·
England 240 V/50 Hz). If your home has
a different mains voltage, consult your
dealer.
Movable support
You can tilt the monitor into a convenient
position with regard to the computer .by
using the movable support.

• Image width can be adjusted with
knobEl.
• With the help of a screw driver control
EJ can be adjusted to straighten the
image.
• If the image starts to slip, it can be
stabilised with knob CD.
• You can adjust the image height with
knob CD.
• You can move the image to the left or~
the right with knob ID.

 Video in are of the Cinch type. The
connections cables tor most types of
. home computers can be obtained from

With monitor BM7552 connection cable
, AV7101 has been included. See the list
,. below for the correct type of cable
between the monitor and your computer.
General
• If the picture is not as desired, check
whether all controls are in the correct
position.
• If there is a bright white line on the
screen, switch the monitor off and
consult your dealer.
• The rear panel should only be
removed by a seNice technician.
• If necessary, clean with a da·mp
sponge. Do not use alcohol, spirits of
ammonia.

konnen Sie AnschluBkabel fur die
meisten Heimcomputertypen beziehen.
Mit Monitor BM7552 wird AnschluBkabel
AV7101 mitgeliefert. Oer untenstehenden
Lisle konnen Sie entnehmen, welches
Kabel fUr den AnschluO des Monitors an
lhren Computer geeignet is!.
Allgemeines
• lsi das Bild nicht einwandfrei,
kontrolfieren, ob aile Einsteller sich in
der richtigen Stellung befinden.
• Erscheint im Bild ein heller weiBer
Streifen, Monitor ausschalten und
Handler zu Rate ziehen.
• Die Ruckwand dart nur von einem
Kundendiensttechniker abgenommen
werden.
• Das Gerat kann bei Bedarf mit einem
feuchten Fensterleder gereinigt werden.
Alkohol, Spiritus oder Ammoniak nicht
verwenden.

Generalites
• Si l'image ne vous satisfait pas,

• Si l'image est barree par une ligne
blanche tres brillante, mettez le moniteur

pourra retirer Ia paroi arriere.

Aansluitingen (achterwand)
De ingangen gemerkt Audio in en Video
in zijn Cinch-aansluitingen.
Aansluitkabels voor de meeste typen
home-computers zijn via uw dealer
leverbaar.
Bij monitor BM7552 is aansluitkabel
AV7101 bijgesloten. Zie onderstaande
lijst voor het juiste type aansluitkabel
tussen de monitor en uw computer.
Algemeen
• Geeft het beeld niet het gewenste
resultaat, controleer dan of aile
regelaars in de juiste stand staan.
• Wanneer het beeld een felle witte
streep vertoont de monitor uitschakelen
en uw handelaar raadplegen.
• De achterwand mag aileen door een
service-technicus verwijderd worden.
• Reinigen kan zonodig met een
vochtige zeem. Geen alcohol, spiritus of
ammonia gebruiken.

constitue the Optior• 010/110 for· the TT-1602B Mon·~chr·~me Video
Display Unit.

It r•eplaces the original 220/110 VAC transformer ar.d is designed in

s•Jch a way that the TT-1602B with Option 010/110 can be P·~wer•ed from
a floating 10.5- 32.0 V DC so•Jrce <power· consumption approx. 15Wl.
Option 010/110 is delivered with all necessar·y cabling, r•eady for
installation •

2.2 Removal of T~ansfo~mar

Please refer to encl·~sed schematics.

Remove the rear-cover of the moni t·~r by •.mscr·ewing the tw·~ screws
located at the b·~tt'"'' cor·ners of the rear-cover and the tw·~ scr·ews
located at the top-c·~r·r,er·s. A blue-colocll'ed plate is '''o•mted C•n the
rear-cover. Rer.l•~ve this plate and desolder the two coax-cables fr··~m
the mordtor mair.-board, als•j unscrew the yell•:•w/gt"een gr"our,d wise.

The metal fr•ar.1e that accom·~date the r11ains transfor·mer TT 110 is held
by two screws. Remove these screws and r·emove the whole tr•ar,sfor·mer·
ur.it with input/outp•Jt cables and c•,nnector·s.

2.3 Modification of metal frame

The metal frame ccor>sist of two parts, OY•e pat•t A, made of 1 mm metal
sheet, ar>d or•e part B made of 0. 3 mm met a 1 sheet.

Place the DC-DC convet·ter board TT 37-100732 ir> A ar.d r,ot ice the fout·
holes in lir>e with the fo•jr rno,mting holes on Tt 37-100732.
!Yic>·ease the diamete>· for these holes to 3. 5 mra.

Place pa>·t B in pat•t A and mark the n1ountirog hole that is ro1issing1 ir,
B. Also make this hole with a 3.5 rom diameter.

Two additional holes are roeeded in B, oroe 5.0 rtlln hoole fcot• a small PVC

•
nipple arod one 8.0 mm hole for a lat•ger nipple. The poosition of the
holes is root critical, but make sure that they at•e placed So:< close to:o
the edge of B th~t the nipples will not touch A.

2.4 Wiring
Install the boards TT 37-100732 and TT 37-1008'38 on the metal frame
as shown in the exploded view. This dt•awing also shows how to
connect wires ar>d coax-cables. Connectior>s are listed below with
t•eference to the designations stamped cor, the boa>·ds.

mainboard <sat11e as point 43).

Make sut•e that pt•opet• grounding is provided by means of 1.15 as shc•wn

in the exploded view.

Apply a DC input voltaoe to H11 and verify that o•Jtput voltage fr•:orol
TT 37-100732 is+ 17,7V (measut•e between OUT + and metal ft•amel.

Apply a suitable video signal to the VIDEO iroput and verify that
picture is free ft•om intet•ference such as straight lines with
different slopes across the screen.

Interfet•ence is sometimes caused by the switching frequency ·~f the

DC-DC corovet·ter. This type of problem can be elio1iroated by a charoge
of this frequency with only a few kHz •

Make sure that TT 37-100732 arod metal frame at'e back iro its normal
places when the effect of a modification has to be vet•ified. This is
important siroce the power supply is also a magnetic coro1ponent that
effects the deflection of the electron beao1 iro the valve.

If intet•fereroce is elimiroated: Mourot the bl•le plate H12 oro the r·ear·
cover and mo•Jr1t this or• the rnonitor. Make sure tht the r•lonito.-.. ,
mairoboar·d is in correct possitio:oro, s•:o that mairo switch caro be easily
o:opet•ated from the front. Also o1ake sut•e tht the rear cover· easily
