Functional Diagram Pressure chamoer Movement Tappet Initiating elements for microswitches Measuring springs Measuring diaphragm ‘The instruments ofthis type are used for the fiow-monitoingin Thermal cil installations according to DIN 32727 and in Hot water installations The flow-monitoring installations consist of a difforontial pressure element, for example a measuring orifice, of the differential pressure measuring and switching device and of the relevant shut-off valves. For all of the above applications, the relevant rules and codes for the Allinstruments of the series 21 D meet the requirements of hese regu- lations. The certification of this was basedontheprototype-testand the Iria state of equilibrium, the forces of the springs on both sides of the diaphragm are balanced. The differential pressure tobe measured creates an unbalanced force at the diaphragm, This force moves the diaphragm-system against the force of the springs for the measuring range until anew equilibrium is reached. When subjected to excessive pressure, the diaphragm rests on metal supporting plates. A centre-mounted tapoet diaphragm system to the indicator movement and to the initiating elements of the microswitches. rc Technical Data Measuring ranges: Max. pressure rating: Max. static operating pressure: Indication: i , > Accuracy: .. MAINTENANCE 1 DESCRIPTION JUMO thermostats for surface mounting are employed as temperature controllers, monitors, limiters, safety limiters and safety monitors, for example in laboratory ovens, climatic cabinets, heating boilers to DIN 4781, steam boilers to DIN 4572, heat transfer installations to DIN 4754, in furnaces or in mechanical equipment and plant. Arrangement to DIN 3440 as TR = temperature controller TW = temperature monitor TB = temperature limiter STB = safety temperature limiter STW = safety temperature monitor JUMO thermostats for surface mounting Series ATH meet the requirements of VDE 0631 1.1 Type designation ATH.-... Thermostat, surface-mounting, with microswitch s with pocket (Code U) to Data Sheet 62010 attached to case f with capillary 1 temperature controller (TR) with changeover contact 2 temperature monitor (TW) with changeover contact 7 temperature limiter (TB) with normally-closed contact and lock-out. Reset button can be operated after removing the cap nut. 20 safety temperature monitor (STWISTB) with changeover contact. fuser provides an external electrical lock-out the thermostat can be used as safety temperature limiter (sTB) 70 safety temperature limiter (STB) with normally-closed contact and lock-out. Reset button can be operated after removing the cap nut, ‘safety temperature limiter (STB) with normally-closed contact (changeover contact), as 70 but with gold-plated switch contacts 1.2 Extra codes Case a case with die-cast aluminium cover (not with Code r) Thermostat mounting (Code f only) g standard thread M18xt with locknut on boss of case, capillary exit at boss with 2 screws through base of case, capillary exit at side of case b steel mounting flange, zinc-plated and passivated, capillary exit at boss. 1.3 Operation JUMO thermostats for surface mounting ‘operate on the principle of liquid expansion. A temperature change in the liquid-flled sensing system — consisting of probe, capillary and expansion capsule — Produces a volume change. The resulting ‘expansion movement of the diaphragm acts through a mechanism to operate the Microswitch, ‘The temperature probe alone senses the temperature, ‘Switching action Tem; lure controller, monitor, TRITWISTW(STB) When the temperature at the probe rises and the setpoint is exceeded, the sensing system relieves the pressure on the ‘operating pin of the microswitch and the circuit is opened or closed. When the temperature falls below the setpoint (by an amount equal to the switching differential) the microswitch is returned to its initial Position. ‘Temperature limiter with normaily-open contact TB/STB When the setpoint is exceeded the circuit is opened and the microswitch is locked out mechanically. After the temperature has fallen below the ‘setpoint the microswitch can be reset manually. ‘Temperature limiter with changeover contact TB/STB As TBISTB with normally-closed contact, but microswitch with changeover contact (contact 1-4 can be used as signal contact). 1.4 Design The surface-mounting thermostat Type ATH is a compact unit consisting of case, mechanism, microswitch and capsule sensing system, The temperature probe of the sensing system is arranged outside the case; connected to the mechanism inside the case through the capillary and the capsule. Top and bottom of case are fitted together with 2 screws and sealed by a plastic seal. ‘Setpoint adjustment and scale are mounted on the case top with Code 1, and inside the case with Codes 2, 20, 7, 70. With Codes 7 and 70 the case top carries a reset button to reset the switch; acap nut prevents unauthorised operation. 1.5 Technical description Case base die-cast aluminium, cover high- ‘strength polycarbonate. On Code r entire case is polycarbonate. Cable entry clamping nipple Pg 11 or cable gland Pg 11 to DIN 46.255 Switch With Code 1, 2, 20: ‘enclosed microswitch with single-pole changeover contact With Code 7, 70: enclosed microswitch with single-pole opening or changeover contact and lock-out (opens on temperature rise) Lock-out On the limiters TB and STB a temperature rise above the set limit opens the circuit and the thermostat is locked out mechanically. The microswitch can be reset manually after the temperature has fallen approx. 10% of span below the setting. When the safety monitor STW(STB) is used as safety limiter STB the lock-out requirements to DIN 3440 must be met by the electrical circuit which it operates. The lock-out circuit must be in accordance with DIN 57 116 Section 8.7. 1.6 Technical data Current rating with differentials 3%, 6%; TR, TW 5%, 9%; STW(STB) _ }78,STe 10(2) A, 250Va.c., p.f. = 1(0.8) 0.25A, 250V d.c. with differentials 1.5%; TR, TW 2° %; STW(STB) 6(1.2) A, 250Vac., pf. = 1(0.6) 0.15 A, 250V de.
