DIRECTIONS: Among the 22 Principles of Plumbing, choose five (5) principles and explain or
elaborate them further. You can give its importance or some definitions that one must know.
1. Principle No. 1 (Pressure and Volume)
This principle of plumbing is intended to ensure that buildings have a safe and
clean water supply that is not connected to an unsafe water source and is not subject to
hazards of backflow or back-siphonage. This ensures that the building's occupants have
access to pure and wholesome water and helps to protect their health and well-being.

2. Principle No. 5 (Sewer)

This principle is also aimed to prevent any kind of pollution or contamination of
the environment as well as public health hazards. It's worth noting that building codes
and regulations may vary by location and may have specific requirements regarding the
connection of buildings to the public sewer system, such as permits or inspections.
Therefore, it is essential to check with the local authorities to ensure that all the
necessary steps are taken to properly connect a building to the public sewer system.

3. Principle No. 7
According to this principle, plumbing fixtures must be made of smooth, non-
absorbent materials that are easy to clean and free from concealed fouling surfaces.
This is important for maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of the fixtures and
preventing the buildup of bacteria and other harmful contaminants.

4. Principle No. 17
This principle is important because it ensures that sewage is properly treated and
disposed of, even in areas where there is no public sewer system. It also helps to protect
the environment and public health, by preventing sewage from contaminating nearby
water sources. It's worth noting that building codes and regulations may vary by location
and may have specific requirements regarding the installation and maintenance of septic
systems.

5. Principle No. 20
Accessibility of fixtures is also an important aspect, fixtures need to be placed in
such a way that they can be easily reached and used by everyone, including people with
disabilities or mobility limitations. This includes providing enough clearance around the
fixtures for easy movement and installing grab bars or other accessibility features as
needed. Proper spacing and accessibility of fixtures are essential for the safety, comfort,
and convenience of the building's occupants. It helps to ensure that the fixtures are easy
to use, and that everyone can use them safely and comfortably.
