LASER FENCING CONNECTION REPORT

Construction of Laser Fencing:
The laser fencing unit consists of a transmitter and receiver installed at four
locations. The distance between locations 1 to location 2 is 60m, from locations 2 to
location 3 is 80m, and the distance between locations 3 to location 4 is 65m. Both
transmitter and receiver and mounted on the same pole for 2 units, as shown in figure 1.

Figure 1. Transmitter and receiver in same Pole

The hardware connection of the transmitter is shown in figure 2. It consists of an
Arduino controller, GSM module, power circuits, Solar Panel and adaptor.
Figure 2. Transmitter circuit

The receiver circuit with its accessories is shown in figure 3. The solar panel is used for
receiving the signal. The specification of the solar panel is given in table 1. The receiver
consists of an Arduino, GSM module and LED in series for Lines 1,2 and 3 separately.

Working of Laser Fencing:

The system will be on during night time when it is dark. The 3-line laser transmitter
transmits the light beam, and the receiver unit receives the light at a maximum distance
of 150 meters if it is in line of sight. After receiving the laser beam, the receiver will
compare the light voltage with the threshold value. Based on the value change, a warning
SMS will be forwarded to the security office warning unit box, where the light and
buzzer will be ON.

Installed Locations
Site 1: Near to Quarters Gate
Laser transmitter and receiver installed:
Site 2: After quarters gate middle unit
Laser transmitter and receiver installed GSM number:9385451392
Site 3: South gate unit
Laser transmitter and receiver installed GSM number: 9385451394
Site 4: After south gate unit
Laser transmitter and receiver installed:
Buzzer unit
GSM Number: 9385452795
Conclusion:
The system detects moving objects that cut the laser beam for more than 1.5 seconds, and the
SMS will be forwarded. It categorizes the messages as shown above. The students have done
the system hardware circuit and implementation of the hardware unit at the respective
location.

Recommendation
Overall design and implementation of this project is good. Hence reward points of 1300 can
be provided to the students.
