I: Learnings (Takeaways from the Reading/s and Sharing/Homily)

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not
of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11.

II. Personal Reflections, Realizations, and Resolutions

We've all had ups and downs in our lives. We've had our fair share of ups and downs
as well as happy and sad times. But none of this was by chance. No. All of this was carefully
planned and put in God's blueprint for our life. We can never learn until we go through that
point in our lives. We can never progress unless we have experience. But allow me to alter
that cliche somewhat. Through our experiences, GOD is our greatest teacher.
Our Bishop asked questions before discussing the chosen verse, saying “What role
does experience play in God's plan?” He said, simply. God uses our circumstances to teach
us to trust Him more, to lean on Him more, to realize that it is He who we truly need in our
life, and to rely on Him to conquer whatever we are facing. Experiences, whether negative
or positive, are a part of God's work in our life.
For me, God loves us more than we can comprehend. Our God, like a devoted dad
keeping a careful eye on his children, is continuously on the lookout for our best interests.
When He senses that we are deviating off the road, He either taps us on the shoulder or
pinches us hard on the arm. Furthermore, He constantly tells us that He has bigger plans
for us. He enables us to suffer in order for us to be stronger when another set of difficulties
comes our way. He enables us to fall so that we can get back up and move on with a better
attitude toward life, utilizing that horrible event as a stepping stone.
On a personal note, I have been through a situation in my life that has severely tested my
faith. I believed I'd always be helpless. But, with God's aid, I was able to turn that scenario
into a reminder that God will never abandon me. Even now, I am grateful that He permitted
me to go through so much sorrow in order for me to become the person I am today. He has

big plans.
