RAISE THE BAR: Create Pathways for Global Engagement

Provide Every Student with a Pathway to Multilingualism

“ Raise the Bar: Lead the World” is the U.S Department of Education’s call to

action to transform education and unite around what works----based on decades of

experience and research ---to advance educational equity and excellence. As part of our

Raise the Bar efforts to create pathways for global engagement, the Department is

working to provide every students with a pathway to multilingualism while ensuring

equitable access to a high-quality education for English learners, who historically have

been underserved.

The goal is to ensure every student has a path to post secondary education and

training, including by establishing and scaling innovative systems of college and career

pathways that integrate high schools, colleges, careers, and communities and lead to

students earning industry-recognized credentials and securing in-demand jobs.

During this webinar the panelists reflects on the importance of early learning,

dual language, the seal of biliteracy, and parent engagement as levers for

multilingualism and multiliteracy in today’s global society and economy; and discuss

ways to elevate multilingualism among English learners and all students. This webinar

is hosted by Ed Office of English Language Acquisition. One of the panel in the webinar

is Montserrat Garibay, she discusses about the “The Importance of Multilingualism in

Modern Education" at the Albuquerque Convention Center, NM.
