PHILOSOPHY
 Human Person currently calls as
Philosophical Anthropology or
Originally Philosophy of Man.
 Generally, it is the science that
studies man and everything
related to man or here we will call
it Human person, by the radiance
of human reason alone.
Why use Human Person instead of
Man?
 Person- synonymous to human
being
 Human is a very special being.
 The term Human and Person
articulate the
 uniqueness of this being among
all created beings.
 Human Person- Appropriate Title
 Man is confusing since it
generates various meaning.

The human Person exists in 3 different
realities:
1. The material world of nature; or
extra mental realities or Empirical
realities
2. The intra-mental realities such as
ideas, thoughts, and emotions; or
the immaterial world and
3. The social world of inter-
subjectivity, that is, the possibility
of sharing something like
knowledge with others
 The material world of nature more
properly belongs to the natural
sciences, but the immaterial
worlds of ideas, thoughts and
emotions belongs to the field of
Philosophy.
 Philosophers are concerned with
what the human person most
essentially is.
THE HUMAN PERSON IS AN
EMBODIED SPIRIT
1. Embodied Spirit- we normally
thought of a spirit being incarnated.
However, the idea of human person as
an embodied spirit does not necessarily
refer to the incarnation and
materialization of spirit. In context to
Christian philosophy specifically the
inseparable union of body and spirit.
To understand specificity of human
person as an embodied spirit, It is
important because besides from the fact
that it enable us to know our
potentialities and limitations it is also
exposes us to a thorough and a deeper
understanding of ourselves as a unique
creature united by body and soul.
 What is Monism and what is  The physical part of the human
Dualism? person which uses for seeing,
touching, tasting, and smelling.
Monism
 Physical contact with the
 Man is composed of one basic or environment
single substance or principle.
Spirit
 The reality of man is made up of
single element.  The spirit is the innermost part of
man.
Dualism
 It is the supernatural and
 this theory holds that man is immaterial being with which man
made up of two irreducible communicates God.
