Dear Mr. T.

Malone,

The purpose of this missive is to apprise you of Clifton’s progress as it pertains to the

Amplify ELA project. As you know, the overarching objectives are to train educators to facilitate

lessons that maintain grade-level rigor while focusing on accessibility for students who struggle,

implement the Amplify supplemental materials to assist with remediation work in fluency and

reading comprehension, train educators on how to use Amplify ELA to teach students to tackle

any complex text, and to employ six levels of differentiation for students who need additional

support or added challenge.

Correspondingly, I have already created the initial curriculum for the first unit of Amplify

using Clever (HISD’s management solution for learning resources), collaboratively created the

Managing Risk and Escalation Presentation Outline, and researched how Amplify will support

readers below grade-level with Clifton faculty. Also, I have determined the appropriate grade-

level passages to assist with remediation, designed a path of instruction that sets aside time for

flexible units, skill modules, and other activities and projects. Additionally, I have researched

how the close-reading exercises offered in Amplify can build background knowledge and help

students analyze the details of a passage. Moreover, I have reviewed how Amplify ELA

cultivates literacy through rich, multimodal experiences of high-quality texts, and I have created

an outline and presentation for stakeholders. Accordingly, I believe the anticipated completion

date was appropriately set on the calendar because the set time provided plenty enough time for

planning and implementation.

The milestone that I have yet to achieve based upon my timeline of achievement, is to

finalize and proofread the Differentiation section in the Teacher Lesson Brief that summarizes
the supports available in any of the differentiated activities because the completion date has yet

to come to pass. Again, I believe the anticipated completion date was appropriately set because it

is a week before it has to be implemented into classroom instruction. Thus, there are no delays

that will need to be communicated to stakeholders

All in all, the project is going according to plan, and I do not perceive any changes that

need to be accomplished in order for Clifton Middle School’s faculty to continue making

progress towards the project’s completion. However, there is a potential challenge that could

possibly arise. In that, it may be challenging to ensure that every student has a device for which

to navigate the program. To that end, I appreciate any advice you can give for an optimum

solution, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work on such a meaningful project.

Best Regards,
