When it comes to teaching, one must be able to understand that the experience of the

child may greatly affect his or her future. It can be said that whatever children would
experience in their early stages, their future would be dependent on it. If a child is taught
kindness, for example, the child may grow up to be kind towards those around them. If a child
is given permission to cheat, they may believe that cheating is no big deal as they grow up.
Suffice it to say, as a teacher, I must be able to guide a child, both academically and morally, in
their early development stages.

 When quarantine was being implemented in Manila, and soon after in the entire
Luzon, my classmates and I were all confused about what to do. Nung simula, di namin
naakala na lalagpas pa ng isang linggo ang quarantine. But when President Duterte
announced that the quarantine would last for 31 days, I realized the gravity of the
situation. Considering that my family is in Korea, I went back to my home in Korea as
fast as I could when quarantine started happening. Nag-basa ako ng balita tungkol sa
kalagayan ng Pilipinas habang may quarantine. After the community quarantine, it
became enhanced community quarantine, and is currently modified enhanced
community quarantine. I have also observed how different the Philippines is with how
we deal with the COVID-19 virus in Korea. In Korea, we had an organized testing
program and we isolated those with infections. In the Philippines, mass testing has still
not been achieved and the quarantine was implemented to a vast deal of people.

After the lockdown is lifted, I expect that both the teachers and students would
learn about the pros and cons of having online classes. Ang lockdown ay mahirap at
nakakababahalang sa lahat, pero ito rin ay oportunidad na matuto. Teachers would
understand the best way to teach, may it be physically, virtually, live, or hybrid. I expect
that the educational system would learn to utilize technology and use it to expand
knowledge, rather than to limit it. There may also be alternate learning programs
wherein students may enlist in online classes while others may enlist to physical
classes. Kung tama ang pag-aaral at pag-pananaliksik sa samahan ng online classes
sa proseso ng pag-aaral, ang paraan ng pagtuturo ay magiging mas mabisa. The
possibilities of integrating online classes into the learning process are endless, only if
proper research is used.

Bilang international student, mayroon mga panahon na nalilito at nawawala ako

sa pag-aaral, kahit may online classes. This may be due to some language or cultural
barrier. However, I still wish to be a student of the University of Santo Thomas. I wish to
remain because not only have I been able to survive my first academic year, but I see
the potential in seeing myself grow in this university. I wish to be able to graduate in this
university and be able to use my degree with the Thomasian values.
