(1) Determineif the arrangementof the reinforcingbarssatisfiestheACI 318-02,Section10.6.4

requirementson distributionof flexural reinforcement.

(2) For the given beam:

(a) Calculatethe incrementof deflection resulting from the application of the short-termlive
load.

(b) Find the creepportion of the sustainedloaddeflectionplus the immediatedeflectiondue

to live load.

(c) Compare the deflection calculatedin part (b) with the limitations imposed by the ACI
Code as summarizedin Table 6.3 of the text. Assume that the beam is susceotibleto
cracking damageif the deflectionsare excessive.
