1 Warnings and legal information

This manual gives guidelines for the use and installation of the DEIF multi-line 2 units. It is, however, not a complete installation
instruction. Therefore, even if terminal numbers may be shown in the drawings, these are to be used as guidance only.

Installing and operating the multi-line 2 units implies work with dangerous currents and voltages, and therefore only
qualified personnel should do it.

During the installation care must be taken to protect the terminals against static discharges. Once the units are installed and
connected, these precautions are no longer necessary.

DEIF takes no responsibility for operation or installation of the generator set. If there is any doubt about how to install or
operate the system on which the multi-line 2 unit is measuring, the company responsible for the installation or the operation
must be contacted.

2 Terminal description: GPU, GPC, PPU

2.1 Slot #4, analogue output

Slot #4 is used for either transducer outputs or governor/AVR outputs.

The analogue outputs are active outputs, i.e. they use the internal power supply. The outputs are galvanically separated from each
other and the rest of the unit.

NOTE :
Voltage control set-point to AVR is an option (option D).

If a combination of analogue signals and relay signals is needed, option EF4 is to be used instead of option E1.

3 Functional description

3.1 Slot #4, analogue controller output

The current outputs can, if needed, be converted to voltage using a resistor across the terminals (250 Ω will convert the +/-20 mA into
+/-5 VDC). Refer to the document “Interfacing DEIF equipment to governors and AVRs” for information about interfacing.

3.2 Controller functionality

The controller functionality of the multi-line 2 is described in the basic handbook of the GPC/GPU/PPU.

3.2.1 Analogue output offset

In addition to the controller parameters described in the basic handbook this additional setting can be used. The purpose of this
setting is to give the analogue output an offset value.
