General information
Description
Math 1 students will use expressions in the real number system, creating and reasoning with equations
and inequalities, interpreting and building simple functions, expressing geometric properties, and
interpreting categorical and quantitative data.

Expectations and goals

Students will be able to reason abstractly and quantitatively, rewrite algebraic expressions, and build
an understanding of polynomials and inequalities. My goal for each student is to gain clarity on
mathematical functions and how to connect strategies we use in class to their everyday life.

Required materials
 5 Subject, College Ruled Notebook
 Chromebook and charger

Optional materials
Optional materials include colored pens, highlighters, etc., I will do my best to provide these
materials for students but if you prefer to have your own that’s fine as well.

Class Expectations
“If you are on time, you are late!” Come to class early with all the necessary supplies for the day!

Please take the time to download the
PowerSchool and Canvas apps to your phone.
This is where you will access grades and
complete any missing work. You will have to
contact WMHS Administration to receive your
student code, however, your district code is
“GJKX”
Grading Scale
A 90-100
B 80-89
The lowest grade for a reasonable attempt will
be a 50.
Absentee/Make-Up Work
Students will have one week to submit any late
assignments (5 school days). There will be a
deduction of 5 points per school day using the
100-point scale. Any assignment that is
submitted past the 5-day threshold will
automatically receive a grade of 50%. Students
will be allowed to make up any quizzes or tests
during Hawk Time for an improvement grade up
to 80%.

C 70-79
Cheating policy
D 60-69
Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated!
F <60 Copying papers or homework assignments
belonging to another student will result in a
50% grade on the assignment for both students.
Grading Policy Students will have the opportunity to make up
the assignment for a maximum grade of 80%.
Assignments will be split into 3 categories
and weighted as such:
