BOOK REVIEW (Assignment # 4)

A book review is a form of literary criticism in which a book is merely described or analyzed
based on content, style, and merit. The four stages of writing a book review are: introducing the
book, outlining its contents, highlighting parts of the book by selecting particular chapters or
themes, and giving a detailed evaluation.
Here you have to give a review on a Non- Fiction book. The genres of Nonfiction books include
history, biographies, autobiographies, memoirs, travel guides or travelogues, academic texts,
philosophy, journalism, self-help, guide books and humor.

STEPS FOR WRITING A BOOK REVIEW

STEP # 1: Selection and Approval of the book

• Select a book (either in English or Urdu) from the given list. The selected book will
be shared through WhatsApp in the pdf format.
• You can also choose a book of your own choice but it should be non-fiction, based on
any of the topics like reading, writing, communication skills, time management,
education, learning, teaching, ECE, parenting, Tarbiyah, health, self-help,
mentoring, psychology, …
• Once you have selected the book, ask for the approval from your mentor through
WhatsApp number i.e., 0300-3561469 by 6th December 2021 (Monday)
(Note: Mention your name along with the book you want to read in your message.)

STEP # 2: Writing the Review

• After the approval, start working on your assignment. Read the book at least twice
than complete the given template. (Consider only first 100 pages of the book for your
review work in case the book consists of more than 200 pages)
• Send your written review by 1st January 2022 (Saturday) on the email address
which is ceedepartment.tif@gmail.com.
• Note: You can also use google to get the additional information about the book and
the author. (Use this source only for the reference. Avoid plagiarism)

STEP # 3: Presenting the Review

• On 6th January 2022 (Thursday), you are going to present this review in a LIVE
session. You will get the 2-minutes time to unmute your mike for sharing (1) What
this book is all about? (2) Your reflection / personal opinion / learning points from
this book. (3) Whom would you like to recommend and Why? These points should be
the highlights of your presentation.

Kindly follow the deadlines. Feedback will be given on the session of 6th
January 2022 (Thursday). In case of any query feel free to contact Misbah

Explanation of the Template

beginning of the book to whom he had dedicated this
book? If no name mentioned so leaves it empty
Acknowledgement/ Any other people have shared their praises/opinions
about this book? You can mostly find this in the start
Praises by the others or in the end of the books. If no praises found so
(Mention only the leave it empty
names)

About the Author (background / education / other books)

Write the introduction of the author here. If it’s given in the book so write it from there.
If not, so use google. If not available on the google as well so mention that no
information found about the author from the available sources.
