2. BYP shed design-

Shelter house- minimum size of 22*12*10 of house divided in 0.25:0.25:0.5 ratio.

1st ¼th part is for rooster and Hen of ratio 1:8. 2 nd part is for mothers and chicks; rest is for growers.

Day shelter must be twice the size of night shelter.

Walls of night shelter can be made up of concreate with proper air ventilation.

Day shelter can be fenced with steel or nets.

Hatching house can be made at night shelter top so eggs and mother can be protected from others,
can be kept at dark and provide warm.

Benefits- Avoid mixing between BYPs.

A healthy and mature hen need 50gm. Nutrients per day.

Chicks depends upon their age.

FEED mixture - 1. Husk- 6kg

2. Broken rice- 6kg

3. Mustard cake- 2kg

4. Dry fish/ soyabean- 1kg/ 1.2 kg

5. Mineral mixture- 200gm


6. Salt – 200gm

7. Vegetable wastages/ azolla/ leaves

8. Jagghery (used while feeding)

Wet feed consists of water, azolla, azolla water, cooking wastage.

Azolla tank- Either of circular or rectangular shape of (10*3*6) size. In it cow dung of 8-10 kg., soil 8-
10kg, DAP/SSP 200 gm.

Avoid fungal spread in feed by making dry feed and mixing of water or jagghery while feeding.

Generally, farmers follow these feeding for proper growth, those who can’t afford these all generally
feeds, Rice, Husk and salt mixture.

Goats- Goats need to eat greeneries, 10% of their weight.

Mineral mixture and mineral lick is to provide necessary nutrients, proper growth.

Generally, farmers provide leaves or cooking wastages.

5. Care and managements-


Proper sanitise in the weekly basis by dug water and lime water for mud house and concrete
house respectively.
In some areas we see that they have foot bath (mixture of potash and lime water) zone in
the entrance or outside the shed.
Whenever they decided to sell their BYP we see that they wash their hand and give it to the
vendor.
If any BYP left out or unsold from the market, they generally keep it for isolation for 14 days
minimum.
Before the disease outbreak they try to sell it out as soon as possible.
During the disease outbreak they contains their BYP from come in contact with another
village.
For some uncertain reason if death happens, they basically dig a1 feet pit and burn it out or
dig it in 3 feet of pit.
