This journal reflect my first clinical experience at the Port-Loko government hospital.

The experience has

made me re-examined and analyze a lot about my path toward reaching my goal and becoming a Nurse.
I felt that being able to touch and feel the working environment is extremely important for a future
nurse and indeed for any health care provider. Real experience is important in learning.

At first I was nervous, not yet to say scared but I found myself curious to know what the clinical setting
will be like, how it will feel caring for someone unfamiliar

I got an opportunity to inset urinary catheter in one of the male patient who had the problem of urinary
retention. I studied about the process and did my task of urinary cauterization successfully with the
proper guidance and instruction of the nurse in charge. It was a great experience of utilizing nursing
knowledge and skills with the real patient in my practice, and it was special for me because I did the job
first time.

My learning has been enhanced throughout the clinical and the theoretical experiences because of the
following reasons. Firstly I am in a position of to relate the clinical experiences with the theories learned
in a class room

I performed the procedure of urinary cauterization successfully without any complication successfully
and without help of my nurse in charge. I need to have sound knowledge on complex nursing procedure
