The passage affirms that buy a franchise has more benefits than have your own business, but

the
teacher explains why this is false. In the first place, the passage mentions that the major problem
of fist-time business is to find reliable suppliers of goods and services, and with a franchise, you
don’t have these problems because they already have their own contacts. The teacher explains
that this isn’t a benefit, because the cost of the services of a franchise are very high, so you lose a
lot of money.

The second argument is that with a franchise you don’t have to worry about expending money on
advertising because the products that they sell are already popular. The professor says that the
disadvantage is that the company will get a lot more money from the sales than you, and they
don’t advertise your business, just the brand.

The last point in the passage affirms that is very risky to have your own business. This is indeed
risky, but something that they don’t mention is that if you buy an independent business of a
previous owner the probability of success in the first four years is twice that to buy a franchise.
