The teacher disagrees with what the passage says about Chaco’s great houses, because none of

those theories are credible enough.

The first theory says that Chaco great houses were residential buildings. The professor explains
that this isn’t true because inside the houses there is not enough space for rooms and fireplaces,
so if hundreds of people lived in those houses, it would look more habitable.

The second theory argues that Chaco houses were used as store food supplies. The thing is that
the professor explains that excavations haven’t show enough evidence to support this theory.

The third theory proposes that houses were used as ceremonial centers because archaeologists
identified enormous piles of old material. The professor argues that the “old material” that
archaeologists have found not only contains broken pots, there is also building material, sand and
a lot of other stuff used to build, so he explains that the area was used as a trash hill for building
material, not as a ceremonial center.
