Oxley Woods is the first of the Design for Manufacture competition w inners to be built. In April 2007 the first houses w ent on sale, w ith residents moving into the homes in Summer 2007.
The variety of house types and sizes and range from tw o to five bedroom houses, most w ith gardens and including housing association lets, shared ow nership and traditional sales, has encour
community to build up in the development. The Oxley Woods development is linked into a w ider Oxley Park masterplan, providing residents w ith a local high street, new public transport links and
adjacent developments are progressed.
Residents have responded enthusiastically to their new homes, in particular the larger living spaces and sustainable benefits.
The houses w ere designed to exceed 2002 Part L Building Regulations, meeting Code Level 3 in the Code for Sustainable Homes. It is predicted that the good insulation and airtight design of the h
low energy ventilation system of the EcoHat, w ill significantly reduce the energy required to heat and cool the homes compared to standard homes.
RSHP is continuing to w ork w ith service engineer RYBKA and manufacturer Wood New ton to explore the next phase of w ork on the design of the house, w ith the aim of building on higher dens
apartments, mixed tenure blocks and as individual homes, and using proven technology to reach Code Level 4-6 for carbon dioxide emissions in the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Phased construction of the houses at Oxley Woods started at the eastern end of the site in 2007. By September 2008, 90 out of the planned 145 houses had been completed, w ith the programm
