PED 9 | Task 2

  My journey towards taking the education course or program BSED began with my
parents, who have always encouraged and supported me in every step of my academic life. They
have always been my pillars of motivation. I am also motivated to take the BSED- Mathematics
course because of my best teacher in high school and the time I began to love mathematics
subject. Watching her teaching enthusiastically in her classes was an eye-opener for me because
I saw that she was not only passionate about teaching mathematics but, she had a deep
connection with her students and left an impact on our lives. The reality is, becoming a teacher
was never my first dream, and I do not consider teaching as a career option because my dream
career is to become a civil engineer. However, my opinion changed after I met my grade 10
adviser. She inspired me to pursue a course in teaching. I admire the way she taught us. We can
easily understand the lesson even the difficult topic in math subject. She had many ways to
explain a complex topic to a simple one. Now that I am taking this course, I realize that teaching
is not just a profession for me and has gone beyond that. I now consider teaching as a mission by
imparting all the knowledge and skills I can give. In a sense, I believe everyone has a calling and
a mission in life, and it is then I discovered that becoming a teacher is not just something I want
to do it is something I need to do. I believe that as teachers, we should use our knowledge and
experience to be responsible for educating and inspiring a future generation to cultivate and
grow.  

 
I want to teach my future students about the importance of being creative, and humble
enough to admit when they do not know something and to open themselves up to learning from
those around them. I also want to impart to my students the value and importance of having a
love for knowledge and learning. I want to help instill in them the motivation, confidence, and
courage to explore and master new fields of knowledge and pursue their dreams. To inspire
students, a good teacher should possess some characteristics in the present. A good teacher
should be patient, approachable, encouraging, and always willing to go the extra mile to help out
their students and make sure they have learned and understand the lessons properly. Good
teachers should also possess enthusiasm and passion for teaching. A good teacher should also be
knowledgeable, organized, and pay attention to the needs of the students. Additionally, a good
teacher must be able to see the potential in their students and guide them accordingly for them to
reach their full potential. Lastly, a good teacher also can exhibit a positive attitude and passion
for teaching, as this would inspire the students to learn and achieve their goals.
 
    
Based on my observation, teaching is not just a simple job to do. This kind of profession
requires rigorous effort, patience, and persistence. Teachers have to deal with the behavior of
students, as well as deal with unruly or disruptive students. We cannot deny the reality that
teachers also often face pressure and criticism from parents or administrators. I view teachers as
a way of success in every profession because, without teachers, there are no engineers, attorneys,
and all. They make sacrifices and go beyond their call of duty to help make a difference in their
students’ lives.
 
 
   I do believe that a good teacher must possess some standards, including patience,
dedication, and commitment to student learning, a passion for teaching. As a future teacher, I
want to foster positive and creative thinking in them and help them learn, explore and grow in
their respective fields. Also, I try to teach my students the importance of cooperation and
coordination and how it helps to achieve the goal. I strongly agree that teachers have an undying
and eternal influence on their students' lives. A teacher's words, actions, and teaching methods
help to shape how a student perceives and responds to life and determines success. Teachers
should be conscious of the words they use, the examples they provide, and the activities assign to
students because they all have the potential to influence their students in one way or another.

 
 For me to become a good and competent teacher, I must ensure that I constantly strive to
develop my knowledge and skills. I must expand my horizons on the academic and practical
ways of teaching craft. Moreover, I plan on obtaining a good education and passing my degree
and other certifications to be a competent teacher. My inspiration to finish and attain my degree
in teaching comes from those who believed in me, especially my family. When I have sleepless
nights, I remember all the people counting on me and the people I am determined not to let
down. I do hope in the near future that I can be a good teacher and a way of success for every
student.
