Activity 1:
Sentence Expansion Objective: To practice expanding simple sentences using descriptive language.
Instructions:
1. Provide each student with a set of simple sentences (e.g., "She is happy." / "He likes pizza." / "I went to
the park.").
2. Instruct the students to expand each sentence by adding more details and descriptive words.
3. Encourage them to be creative and use different sentence structures.
4. Set a time limit of 10 minutes for this activity.
5. After the time is up, have the students share their expanded sentences with the class.
1. Write several sentences on the board, each containing an error related to grammar, vocabulary, or
word order.
2. In pairs or individually, students should read each sentence and identify the error.
3. Once they have identified the mistake, they should write the corrected version of the sentence.
4. Allow 10-15 minutes for this activity.
5. Go through the sentences together as a class, discussing the errors and the corrected versions.
Example: Original sentence: "I am going to the supermarket to buy some apples."
Corrected sentence: "I am going to the supermarket to buy some apples."
Activity 3: Writing Dialogue Objective: To practice writing dialogue using proper punctuation and
formatting.
Instructions:
1. Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
2. Provide each group with a scenario or a topic (e.g., ordering food at a restaurant, planning a day trip,
or buying a gift).
3. Instruct the students to write a short dialogue between the characters involved in the scenario, using
quotation marks and appropriate punctuation.
4. Encourage them to include greetings, questions, responses, and any relevant details.
5. Allow 15-20 minutes for this activity.
6. Ask groups to perform their dialogues in front of the class or exchange their dialogues for peer
feedback.
Example: Scenario: Two friends discussing their weekend plans. Dialogue:
Friend 1: "Hey, what are you planning to do this weekend?"
Friend 2: "I'm thinking of going hiking. There's a beautiful trail near the mountains. Want to join?"
Friend 1: "That sounds great! I've always wanted to explore that area. What time should we meet?"
Friend 2: "Let's meet at 9:00 a.m. at the trailhead. Don't forget to bring some water and snacks!"
Answers may vary depending on the students' creativity and language proficiency level. The examples
provided above are just guidelines to demonstrate the activities. Encourage students to be creative and
offer constructive feedback during the practice activities.
