COOLING CAPACITY

• Since comfort cooling units have been designed for comfort application, a significant part of their
cooling capacity (approx. 35%) is Latent Capacity
• Data centers however require mainly SENSIBLE CAPACITY
• Therefore Thermal Management units have been designed to maximize the Sensible Cooling
Capacity

Cooling Capacity (kW)

In this comparison we can see

that 10 kW comfort unit behaves
6.5
in datacenter applications as only

COOLING CAPACITY - SUMMARY

1. 10 kW Comfort Cooling Unit is not equal to 10 kW Thermal Management unit in Data Center
application
2. For 10 kW of heat load in data center you would need a 15 kW Comfort Cooling unit

OPERATION
Operation Cost COSTS

• As we have previously seen, to cool 10 kW of heat load in a data center we need a 15 kW comfort
cooling air conditioner
• 15 kW comfort unit has approx 50% higher power input than 10 kW Thermal Management unit
