RESEARCH PAPER: Challenges associated with waste management in India.

ABSTRACT:

India suffers significant environmental issues as a result of waste creation and insufficient
garbage collection, transportation, treatment, and disposal. Despite having various laws upon
wate management in India there is a lack in the implementation of these laws. Current waste
management systems in India are incapable of dealing with the amounts of waste created by
an expanding urban population, which has negative consequences for the environment and
public health. A focus is to transition away from reliance on garbage landfills, which provide
little environmental protection, and toward waste management methods that keep usable
resources inside the economy. A focus is to transition away from reliance on garbage
landfills, which provide little environmental protection, and toward waste management
methods that keep usable resources inside the economy. The potential for energy generation
from landfill through methane extraction or thermal treatment is significant, but a major
impediment is a scarcity of competent engineers and environmental specialists with the
knowledge to offer improved waste management systems in India. This article will talk about
the Importance of Waste Management to Environmental Sanitation and the Need for
Effective Waste Management Policies. It will also focus on landfill emissions and their
environmental impact.
