 Costumes and traditions of moches, iquitos and uros

Moches: Due to their religious beliefs and their festive spirit, the inhabitants of Moche are
cultivators of artistic expressions such as music (bands and music, Creole ensembles), clay and
stone sculpture, wood carvings, typical clothing embroideries, weaving baskets and straw,
dances of religious origin and the famous mochera sailor with a particular style recognized by
connoisseurs nationally and internationally.
Iquitos:

 SAINT JOHN FESTIVITY. This is, without a doubt, the most important celebration in the
city and in the entire Peruvian Amazon

 How do the Christian manage incutulrization of the old traditions?

The theological principle of inculturation is the truth about Christ. Christians accept the new
cultures and maintain the old traditions depending on their beliefs.

 What are the major expresion artistc of the region?

The greatest artistic expression in Trujillo are artistic works such as paintings, sculptures of
craftsmen. In Iquitos it is the dances and the presence of native speakers who still preserve
their traditions. Finally in Puno you can find the festivity towards the Virgin of Candelaria
among other traditions towards their gods.

 Traditional dances:

Trujillo: Marinera: In essence, the dance represents flirting, the insinuation of a couple. The
woman in a skirt and scarf provokes the man with her elegant movements.

Puno: Wifala de asilo: Loving and very intentional pastoral dance, from the Quechua sector of
the Department, performed to the sound of pinquillos and drums by young men and women at
the age of marriage.

Iquitos: The Ayahuasca dance: is inspired by the work of the healers or shamans of the
Amazon. In the dance it is shown how the healer seeks to alleviate various diseases; healers
entrust themselves to mother earth and father river to carry out this work
