BENEFITS OF ICT TO HEALTH SECTOR AND AGRICULTURAL SECTOR
Information and communication technology, ICT has become a fast
rising and noteworthy implementation in numerous industries, including the
health sector and agricultural sector. The ICT has the power of revolutionizing
the health sector and agricultural sector and so far has been providing these
sectors improved efficiency, increasing their access to services and enhancing
productivity in these sectors.

In the health sector, the inclusion of electronic health records(EHRs), can

cause an improvement to patient care. Technology allows medical records to
be stored digitally, and this makes them easier to access and share among
healthcare providers, enabling them to make a more suitable decision about a
patient health condition. For example, a patient who is being transferred from
one hospital to another can have their medical records instantly transferred to
the new hospital for a proper and a quick attention and this can reduce delays
in treatment and improve the quality of care.

Another way that the ICT is being used to improve access to healthcare
services is Telemedicine. This technology allows patients to receive medical
care remotely without having to travel to a healthcare facility. For example,
patients can use an online symptom checker to get information on possible
causes of their symptoms and when to see a doctor. This is particularly helpful
to patients who live in rural or underserved areas, where access to healthcare
services may be limited.
ICT among many other of it’s benefits to the health sector can also be
used to provide health education and training to healthcare professionals and
the public. For example, online learning platforms can be used to provide
training in topics such as disease prevention, first aid and nutrition.
Additionally, social media can be used to disseminate health information to the
public, such as public health campaigns to promote healthy behaviours. This
can help reduce the incidence of preventable diseases and improve the overall
health of the population.
In the agricultural sector, ICT tools such as GPS-guided tractors, drones
and automated irrigation systems can help farmers work more efficiently and
reduce labour costs. For example, a farmer can use GPS data to precisely map
their fields and precisely apply the right amount of fertilizer and water to each
area. This can help improve crop yields while reducing waste.
ICT can also help farmers monitor their crops and livestock in real-time,
Tools such as sensors, remote monitoring, and data analytics can be used. For
example, sensors can be used to monitor soil moisture, temperature, and pest
infestations, while drones can be used to monitor livestock health and
behaviour. This can help farmers detect and treat problems early, before they
cause major losses. Simply, it helps them make better decisions. It also helps
them to plan and manage their operations more effectively. For example, Crop
management software can help farmers plan their planting fertilization and
harvesting schedules based on data about soil conditions, whether forecasts
and market prices and all of these increases farmers productivity and profits.
Also, ICT tools such as e-commerce platforms and mobile payment
systems can help farmers sell their products directly to consumers or
businesses, bypassing intermediaries and getting a better price for their
product.
Overall, ICT provides significant qualities to these sectors.
