III. CONTENT NOTES

Hey! Are you excited with our new lesson?
Read an interesting story first!

2
“Is it easy to describe the characters in the story? How
about making sentences in describing them?” Very good!
So, today, let me discuss you, what is a sentence and its
structures.

3
A sentence expresses a complete thought. It ends with a
period (.), or a question mark (?), or an exclamation point
(!). It starts with a capital letter.
How about the structures of sentences?
1. Simple sentence
▪ Contains a subject and a predicate.
▪ Expresses a complete thought.
Examples:
The boys went to the park.
We like pizza.
2. Compound sentence
▪ Contains two simple sentences joined together
by a comma (,) and a coordinating conjunction.
▪ Coordinating conjunctions are
F A N B O Y S
for and nor but or yet so

Examples:
The boys went to the park, but they did not go to
the zoo.

We like pizza, and we like spaghetti.

To sum up everything, here’s a picture for you!
