1. GIS Data Types and Formats
2. Create Shape-files
Create a Shape-file as Point feature
Right Click on one folder >> New
>> Shape-file >> Name, choose
point and edit coordinate system.
Create a Shape-file as Line feature
Right Click on one folder >> New
>> Shape-file >> Name, choose
feature types as a line and edit
coordinate system.
Create a Shape-file as Polygon feature
Right Click on one folder >> New >> Shape-file >> Name,
choose feature type as a polygon and edit coordinate system.
3. Create Personal Geo-database
Level 1: Personal Geo-database

Right Click on one folder >> New


>> Personal Geo-database.

Level 2: Feature Datasets

Right Click on Personal Geo-database


>> New >> Feature Datasets… >>
Name Feature Datasets >> Choose
Coordinate System (Geographic or
Projected Coordinate System).

Level 3: Feature Classes (Point, line and polygon)


Right Click one Feature Datasets… >> New >> New Feature
Classes >> Name Feature Class and Specify Type (Point, line
and polygon feature).
4. Import/Export Geo-database
4.1. Import from a Single Shape-file

Right Click on one feature


datasets of a Geo-database>>
Import (Single Feature
Class…) >> Select Input
Feature >> Output Location >>
Output Feature Class.

4.2. Import from Multiple Shape-files

Right Click on one feature


datasets of a Geo-database>>
Import (Multiple Feature
Class…) >> Select Input
Feature >> Output location >>
Specify Output Feature Class
