Discuss the following items comprehensively.

1. Jose Rizal’s view about the needed reform for the colony and the Filipino people.

Jose Rizal was consistently against it and made it clear that an armed revolution was
foolish, impossible, and destructive. He emphasized that if the higher classes don't
participate in changes, the lower class reforms will be violent and fatal. If the
Philippines are to stay under Spanish rule, in Rizal's view, political transformation is
necessary to meet the demands of history and the local population. For the reform to be
effective, the root of the problems must be addressed. Reforms implemented as a last
option are not only useless but often harmful. Partial improvements only temporarily
hide the issue.

2. Jose Rizal’s view about representation of the Filipinos in the Cortes.

Jose Rizal believed that there was a risk in appointing a Filipino representative to
Cortes, according to his essay. Due to their belief that Filipinos tend to be unruly, turn
into political dictators, and lack of proper behavior, the Spaniards felt it was dangerous
to include Filipino representatives in the Spanish Cortes. Rizal cannot think of any good
reason why the Philippines shouldn't be represented. As a result, many dissidents would
be put down, and instead of blaming the government for its problems, as it currently
does, the nation would be better able to deal with them because it could at least speak up
its complaints and, with its sons serving as lawmakers, would be held responsible for
their actions.

3. Jose Rizal’s view about the needed government of the Filipino people.

The Filipino people need a government that is self-sufficient, self-respecting, and

most importantly, a government that is formed for people, by people. where the
population has the option to choose the government. A government must be able to
accept the Filipino people's right to express an opinion for what is best for them and for
their nation. A government that respects its people, sees their needs and suffering, and
has ears that can hear their screams.

4. Jose Rizal’s view about the people’s loyalty to the government.

Jose Rizal believes that despite the government's injustice and incapability to rule
because they can easily deceive the people, the people are indifferent in their devotion to
the government since they put so much faith in them. It is clear from this that people
cannot eat the food themselves for it contains "poison" that might kill the hungry
people, who are the citizens since the government itself is interested with. Rizal believed
that those who are loyal to the government are hungry people who cannot bear to eat
what was laid out for them because those food are filled with poisons of  lies coming
from the government officials' mouths saying that the food is filled with poison. People
who follow the government blindly are stupid for two reasons: first, they are easily
convinced by the government's sweet lies, and second, they are afraid of the
consequences of not doing as the government says, so rather than standing up for their
rights, they choose to ignore all injustices they encounter as a result of the government's
poor system.
