5.

Disassembling
1 Removing plunger

Attention:
• Be careful that the plunger spring does
not get lost.

Procedure:
• Pull off the plunger from hammer guide
bar.
• Remove plunger spring from plunger.

2 Opening housing

Attention:
• Before opening the housing, disconnect
the power supply.
• Be careful not to lose the holder for the
wrist strap or the housing seal.

Tools:
1 Allen key 3mm

Procedure:
• Unscrew the 4 bolts on lower part of the
housing.
• Remove the lower part of housing.
• Remove the holder for the wrist strap.
• Remove the rubber seal carefully.

3 Removing mechanical module

Attention:
• Be careful that the retaining ring does not
get lost.

Tools:
1 Pair of pliers

Procedure:
• Lift loading spring and loading spring
holder out of the housing to take the
pressure from the spring.
• Remove loading spring and loading spring
holder.
• Rotate the guide sleeve as far as it will go
and remove the retaining ring with a pair
of pliers.
• Now the guide sleeve is free to slide away
from the housing and the mechanical
module can be removed without applying
any force.

4 Disassembling mechanical module

Procedure:
• Release the hammer guide bar and slide it
out of the hammer mass.
• Disconnect the hammer mass from the
impact spring by clicking it out and
rotating.
• Disconnect the impact spring from the
guide sleeve.

3 Assembling mechanical module

Attention:
• The hammer mass must slide freely on
the guide bar.

Components:
1 341 10 320 Hammer guide bar and guide
disc
1 341 10 346 Hammer mass
1 341 20 351 Impact spring Type-L
1 341 20 355 Guide sleeve Type-L

Procedure:
• Connect the impact spring to the guide
sleeve.
• Connect the hammer mass to the impact
spring.
• Put two drops of oil onto the hammer
guide bar.
• Slide the hammer mass on the hammer
guide bar.

4 Insert mechanical module

Attention:
• The loading spring holder should snap
into place.

Components:
1 Upper part housing with
electronic module
1 341 10 114 Housing seal
1 342 10 300 Mechanical module Type
PaperSchmidt
1 341 10 361 Retaining ring
1 341 10 340 Loading spring holder
complete
1 341 10 345 Loading spring

Procedure:
• Slip the housing seal over the guide
sleeve and the dedicated slot in the upper
part housing.
• Insert the mechanical module with the L-
shaped hole facing downwards.
• Fix it in place by gently turning it.
• Lock mechanical module with the
retaining ring.
• Insert the loading spring with the loading
spring holder.

facing upwards.

5 Close housing

Attention:
• Ensure that the holder for wrist strap is not
missing.

Components:
1 Upper part housing with
electronic and mechanical
module
1 341 10 124 Holder for wrist strap
1 341 10 121 Lower part housing
4 341 10 122 Allen screw M4x20

Tools:
1 Allen key 3mm

Procedure:
• Place the holder for wrist strap in the
dedicated slot of the upper part housing.
• Place the lower part housing.
• Fix the lower part housing using the
screws M4x20.

6 Mount plunger

Attention:
• Ensure that the plunger spring is not
missing.

Components:
1 PaperSchmidt w/o plunger and
plunger spring
1 342 10 310 Plunger complete (with plunger
spring)

Procedure:
• Insert plunger spring into the plunger.
• Mount plunger onto the hammer guide
bar.

7 Device label

Components:
1 PaperSchmidt assembled
1 342 80 212 Device label replacement

Procedure:
• Place device label in the box on the back
of the instrument.
• Write the device serial number on the
device label.

7. Final test / accuracy check
1 Reset PaperSchmidt

Procedure:
• Perform an impact with the select button
pressed.
• Wait until the startup procedure has
finished and the data list is displayed.

2 Measure on the anvil

Tools:
1 Testing anvil PaperSchmidt

Procedure:
: • When the data list is shown on the display
: just perform an impact on an anvil to start
a series.
• Perform 10 impacts.
• After 10 impacts press the select button to
enter the measurement option menu.
• Navigate to the SUM icon to terminate the
series.
• Confirm your selection using the TICK
icon.
• The mean value should be within +/- 2R.
