Introduction
Power can be monitored at a number of
locations in an electric power system: At Load –
Placement of a monitor on the branch circuit
that powers a motor or other utilization
equipment analyzes power quality at the point
of use. In distribution equipment: Placing a
monitor at the feeder of a panelboard or motor
control center (MCC) analyzes the power quality
in an entire section of a building. In the service:
Placing a monitor at the entrance Service
conductors for an electrical panel or other
service.
The voltage transistors
can cause symptoms ranging from computer crashes
and damage to electronic equipment up to shock and damage
to the isolation of the distribution equipment.

Changing capacitors or capacitor banks, Reconnecting

systems after a power failure, Changing motor loads,
Turning high intensity discharge and fluorescent lamps
and loads on or off, change of transformers and the
sudden stoppage of some equipment
solution
monitor the load and establish a relationship of the problems or
errors in the operation of the equipment with the events that have
occurred in the distribution system.

Use the facilities line to do a check in the upstream

direction of the distribution system until you find the
source.

voltage interruptions
they can last from two to five seconds, or more. The symptom is usually that the
computer simply stops working.

the electrical supply network, such as lightning strikes,
animals, trees, vehicle accidents, destructive
atmospheric conditions (strong winds, large amounts of
snow or ice on the lines, etc.
solution
monitoring the equipment and establishing a correlation of the time in
which the power interruptions occurred in the equipment with the
time in which the problems occurred with it, it will be possible to
identify voltage interruptions.

voltage
stability The voltage drop occurs
simultaneously with some current
drop that can generally indicate a
problem with the measurement
point, these can be caused by
voltage drops and blackouts that
are generated in public services

solution
the solution for avoid this things of tension or blackouts is increase
the número of conduits of energy because this things they will make
an improvement energetic also decreasing the current flow and
adjusting the conduits temperature since circuits that are heavily
loaded tend to be hotter

overheated
terminals and
connections
The voltage drop can go through bad
connections and loose terminations since
these increase the impedance of the circuit,
as well as causing problems that are difficult
to diagnose such as circuits that turn off and
turn on in an essential way.

solution
The best solution is once the circuit is assembled to verify everything
again and thus avoid major and advanced problems in the future.

Low Power Factor
And Flicker
A low power factor produces a greater
circulation of electrical current in your
facilities and in the distribution network,
bringing with it damage due to overload
effects. This also causes voltage variations,
affecting the performance and operation
of your electrical devices.
PROBLEM SOLUTION
To correct the power factor is to compensate the reactive
power in the distribution transformers. The total power of
the capacitor bank is calculated to compensate the
reactive power absorbed by the no-load transformer,
which is of the order of 5 to 10% of the nominal power.

Overheating And
Equipment Damage.
Increase in electrical resistance
depending on the material due to bad
contacts

When resistance increases, an increase in

temperature is generated at a specific point
or area. Which is also higher than the
temperatures of the remaining areas. Bad
contacts can be caused by poorly tightened
screws, corrosion or dirt on the contacts, or
loss of section.
problem solution
The temperature decreases by reducing the processes or
definitively by shutting down the equipment to avoid
severe damage. Lower intensity but constant high
temperatures are also costly, reducing equipment
reliability and life.
