“HOW TO BUILD A PORTFOLIO”

The Department of B. Design (Industrial Design) of Chandigarh University organized a

workshop on “How to build a Portfolio ”for students of the Industrial Design
This particular meet had a distinct purpose because it was intended to give an overview of
“basics of portfolio” building for further career development on 22nd August 2023 (1:50pm -
4.20pm).
The goal of the workshop to make them clear about the basics rules and tactics that needed to
be followed

It began with the explanation of three factors of Portfolio building process: why, how and
what?. Further explanation was done by explaining the methodology and understanding the
fact that for whom and for what purpose is the portfolio made
 Also individual portfolios were reviewed and explained based on the design job role they want
to get. With the example of speaker’s portfolio , not only the rules were explained but also the
mistakes were pointed out of what not to do.

There was also some doubts clearing session of type the projects and the format of portfolio
building which was cleared thoroughly.
Further Some concepts were given regarding the approach and aesthetics of portfolio from the
viewers point which is still an ongoing research and hope to be in use soon. Overall, It was a
holistic session with a 360 view explanation of the facts and knowledge for building portfolio.
