DONE DURING VOLCANIC
ERUPTION AND EARTHQUAKE.

2022 SEPT 16 Jacob, Ashley, Andrei, Praise and Ezekiel SCIENCE PRESENTATION
VOLCANIC ERUPTION
WHAT TO DO DURING VOLCANIC ERUPTION
Listen to alerts. The Volcano Notification Service provides up-
to-date information about eruptions.
Follow evacuation orders from local authorities. Evacuate
early.
Get as far away from the volcano as possible.
Take temporary shelter from volcanic ash in the location
where you are, if you have enough supplies. Cover ventilation
openings and seal doors and windows.
Wrap or cover your food supplies and seal them airtight to
avoid ingesting volcanic ash that could get in by accident.
If outside, protect yourself from falling ash that can irritate skin
and injure breathing passages, eyes and open wounds. Use a
well-fitting, certified face mask, such as an N95.
In a vehicle, keep your windows shut and aircon turned off to
keep ash fall from getting in the vehicle.
THINGS TO AVOID DURING A VOLCANIC ERUPTION

Avoid areas downwind and river

valleys downstream, of the volcano.
Rubble and ash will be carried by
wind and gravity.
Avoid driving in heavy ash fall.
Avoid contact with falling ash.
Avoid inhaling falling ash.
Avoid going outside unless needed.
EARTHQUAKE
What should you do if your indoors during an earthquake?

First and foremost grab your emergency DUCK

kit
Grab a book or any other things to
protect your vital organs
drop your body under a solid heavy
furniture like table etc.
Hold the book in your head and also
hold tightly on the table.
What should you do if you're outdoors?

Move away from buildings, utility wires, sinkholes,

and fuel and gas lines. The greatest danger from
falling debris is just outside doorways and close
to outer walls of buildings.
Go to an open area away from trees, telephone
poles, and buildings. Once in the open, get down
low and stay there until the shaking stops.
What should you do if you're driving?

Pull over to a safe place where you are not

blocking the road. Keep roads clear for rescue
and emergency vehicles.
Avoid bridges, overpasses, underpasses,
buildings or anything that could collapse.
Stop the car and stay inside.
Listen to your car radio for instructions from
emergency officials.
Do not attempt to get out of your car if
downed power lines are across it. Wait to be
rescued.
What should you do if you're near or on a mountain?

Watch out for falling rock, landslides, trees,

and other debris that could be loosened by
quakes.
Avoid being on or near bodies of water, such
as rivers or streams. Avoid being anywhere
near cliffs or rocky formations.
THINGS TO AVOID DURING AN EARTHQUAKE

Avoid going to the basement or else you risk

getting stuck and obscured by debris.
Don't scream, panic, and run because it will only
put you at a higher risk of danger.
Don't use your cell phone or any gadgets during
an earthquake.
Don't sleep or nap in a comforting area.
Don't try going outside because it will only
cause more trouble for yourself due to falling
debris
