Course purpose: To equip the students with the theory, the methods, and the concerns of public
revenue and expenditure.

Expected Learning Outcomes


By the end of this course, students should be able to:
i. Explain the role of government in promoting economic activity.
ii. Identify the various sources of government revenue.
iii. Identify the components of government expenditure.
iv. Explain the theory underlying the process of taxation.
v. Explain the role of monetary and fiscal policies in enhancing economic development in an
economy.
