[Christos anesti ek nekron, thanato thanaton patisas, ke tis en tis mnimasi, zoin harisamenos]

Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs,
bestowing life.

Katavasies

[Anastaseos imera labrithomen la-i, Pascha kyri-u Pascha; ek gar thanatu pros zo-in, Ke ek gis pros
uranon Christos o Theos; imas di-evivasen, epinikion adontas]

It is the Day of Resurrection, let us be radiant, O ye people Pascha, the Lord's Pascha; for from death
to life, and from earth to heaven, Christ God hath brought us, as we sing the song of victory.

[Defte poma pi-omen kenon, uk ek petras agonu teraturgumenon; al atharsias pigin, ek tafu
ovrisantos Christu; en o stere-umetha.]

Come, let us drink a new drink, not one miraculously brought forth from a barren rock, but the
fountain of incorruption, springing forth from the tomb of Christ, in whom we are strengthened.

[O agelos evoa ti keharitomeni, Agni parthene here, ke palin ero here, o sos i-os anesti tri-imeros ek
tafu.

Fotizu, fotizu, i nea i-erusalim; i gar doxa kiri-u epi se anetile.

The angel cried to the Lady full of grace: rejoice; O pure Virgin, again I say: rejoice; your Son is risen
from His three days in the tomb.

Shine, shine, O new Jerusalem, for the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee; dance now and be glad, O
Zion, and do exult, O pure Theotokos, in the arising of Him Whom you did bear.
