Ἀναστάσεως ἡμέρα, λαμπρυνθῶμεν λαοί· πάσχα It is the Day of Resurrection, let us be radiant, O
Κυρίου πάσχα. Ἐκ γὰρ θανάτου πρὸς ζωήν, καὶ ἐκ people. Pascha, the Lord's Pascha! For Christ our

Δεῦτε πόμα πίωμεν καινόν, οὐκ ἐκ πέτρας ἀγόνου Come, let us drink a new beverage, not
τερατουργούμενον, ἀλλ᾿ ἀφθαρσίας πηγήν, ἐκ miraculously drawn from a barren rock, but the
τάφου ὀμβρήσαντος Χριστοῦ, ἐν ᾧ στερεούμεθα. fountain of incorruption springing from the tomb
of Christ in whom we are established.

Ode 4
May the divinely speaking Abbacum now stand
watch with us, and show forth a shining Angel
saying resoundingly: Today salvation has come to
the world; for Christ is risen as almighty.
Glory to your holy Resurrection, O Lord.
As a yearly lamb, the blessed one for us, the sweet
crown, willingly sacrificed himself for all, as a
purifying Pascha, and immediately the beautiful
sun of righteousness has shone upon us again from
the grave.
Glory to your holy Resurrection, O Lord.
David, the ancestor of our Lord, danced joyfully
before the symbolic Ark of the Covenant, while
the holy people of God, witnessing the fulfillment
of the symbols, let us also rejoice devoutly; for
Christ has risen as Almighty.
Ode 4
Let us rise at the break of dawn, and instead of
myrrh, let us offer a hymn to the Lord, and we
shall see Christ, the sun of righteousness, shining
forth with life for all.
Glory to your holy Resurrection, O Lord.
your immeasurable compassion, O Christ, they
hurried to the light with joyful steps, celebrating
Glory to your holy Resurrection, O Lord.
Let us, the bearers of light, approach the one who
rises from the tomb like a bridegroom. And with
the joyful ranks of celebrating Angels, let us
rejoice in the saving Pascha of God.

Κατῆλθες ἐν τοῖς κατωτάτοις τῆς γῆς, καὶ You descended into the depths of the earth, O
συνέτριψας μοχλοὺς αἰωνίους, κατόχους Christ, and shattered the eternal bars, captors of
πεπεδημένων Χριστέ, καὶ τριήμερος ὡς ἐκ κήτους the imprisoned. Like Jonah from the whale, after
Ἰωνᾶς, ἐξανέστης τοῦ τάφου. three days, You arose from the tomb.

χαῖρε, καὶ πάλιν ἐρῶ, χαῖρε· ὁ σὸς Υἱὸς ἀνέστη pure Virgin! and again I say, Rejoice! Your son
τριήμερος ἐκ τάφου. has risen on the third day from the grave.
Φωτίζου, φωτίζου, ἡ νέα Ἱερουσαλήμ· ἡ γὰρ δόξα Shine, shine, O new Jerusalem, for the glory of the

Gladsome light of holy glory of the holy,

praised at all times with happy voices, O Son of
God and giver of life;

ἦσαν οἱ μαθηταὶ συνηγμένοι διὰ τὸν φόβον τῶν
Ἰουδαίων, ἦλθεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἔστη εἰς τὸ μέσον,

On the evening of that day, the first day of the
week, the doors being shut where the disciples
were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood
among them and said to them, “Peace be with
you.” When he had said this, he showed them his
hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad
when they saw the Lord.

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As

when he had said this, he breathed on them, and

forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you
retain the sins of any, they are retained.”
