Programme Description The B.Ed. Programme offered by IGNOU is an innovative programme utilizing self instructional
materials and information technology along with interactive personal contact programmes. The
programme is essentially a judicious mix of theoritical and practival courses to develop in a
practising teacher appropriate knowledge, skills, understanding and attituds.

The B.Ed. Programme of IGNOU is recognized by the NCTE vide their Letters No. F3/DL-
83/99/7807-7812 dated 31/05/1999 and NRC/NCTE/OL-83/dated 23/10/2015 is offered in
NCTE approved B.Ed. Training Colleges of Education in the country.

The admission to this programme is on the basis of an Entrance Test to be conducted by IGNOU.

Eligibililty Candidates with:

a) at least fifty percent marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in theMaster’s Degree in
Sciences/ Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with
specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent

b) The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):

(i) Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.

(ii) Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme
through Face-to-Face mode.

The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to

SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy      layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Government.
Reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and war widow candidates will be provided as per the
University Rules.
Masters’ Degree awarded without a first degree is not accepted for purpose of Academic
Studies in IGNOU.

Medium of Instruction English & Hindi

Duration Minimum 2 years and Maximum 5 years;

Fee Structure Rs. 55,000/- for the entire programme
