I. Objectives
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to.
 Define the meaning of Opera;
 Initiate volunteerism by providing examples of local theaters and
Philippine Operas; and
 Create a short act based on a provided situation.

II. Subject
Topic: Quarter IV 20TH or 21ST century multimedia forms
Sub Topic: Philippine Opera
Materials: PowerPoint, Television/Projector, Laptop, and Students’ Handouts
References: Music Grade 10 Learner's Materials

III. Teaching Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities
1) Greetings
2) Prayer
3) Checking of attendance

B. Review
 Recall to the class the previous lesson.Question the students
about the lessons that they have learned in the previous
discussion.Ask if the class wants to ask for more questions
before proceeding to the next lesson
C. Motivation
 Displays 4 pictures linked by one word. The goal is to identify
what the word is, based on these photos.

IV. Presentation
1. Activity
 Divide the class into 2 groups. Show to the class some words
related to the new topic and let them identify which and how
many of it are linked to the word “opera”. Answers are to be
written in ½ crosswise with the name of the members
 2. Analysis
 Collect the papers and let the whole class answer the activity.

3. Abstraction
 Proceed to the next lesson which is the Opera in the
Philippines.Discuss the meaning of Opera.Enumerate
examples of local theaters and Philippine Operas.Introduce few
operatic divas.Present examples of operas in the
Philippines.Summarize the topic

4. Application
 Class will be divided into three groups. Perform an opera
based on a situation you pick from the teacher. Can be
performed in any languages as long as there are no explicit or
bad words being utilized. 4-5 dialogues will do

 Possible scenes:
 You don’t have enough money to buy food for lunch and
you want to borrow money to your classmate.
 You came late in your next class and the teacher doesn’t
want you to enter the room unless you have a valid reason.

 You went to a costume party, only to find out that they are
not wearing something the same as you did.

V. Assessment
Short quiz will be given based on the topic discussed.
 1-5. For 5 points. What is an Opera?
 6. What is the first Filipino opera by Pedro Paterno in 1902 and was
first presented in Zorilla Theatre?
 7-8. Aside from Zorilla Theatre, provide two more local theatres in the
Philippines.
 9. Who is the operatic diva that portrayed the role of of Mimi in
Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohome?
 10. It is an opera in the Philippines with only three acts and its title is
translated in English as “The Black She-Wolf”
