Social Studies in the Elementary Grades

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the student are expected to:
a. Discover the life of the Filipinos during the Pre-Spanish Period.
b. Differentiate their lives as modern Filipinos with the life of those who lived during
the Pre-Spanish Period.
c. Express appreciation for the Filipino culture.
II. SUBJECT MATTER:
Topic: Pre-Spanish Period
Materials: PowerPoint Presentation

Strategies: Discussion and Group Activity

III. PROCEDURE
A. Motivation
 The class will be grouped into three groups.
 The teacher will show different paintings depicting the life of the
Filipinos during the pre Spanish period.
 The students will take note information from the paintings for the
next activity.
B. Activity

 With the same group, students will analyze and brainstorm their ideas
about the paintings.
 The students will present their insights about the paintings in front of
the class.
C. Analysis
The students will be tasked to work with a partner, the teacher will explain
the instructions:
In order to accomplish this task, you will need a partner. Work with him or
her and state your agreement or disagreement with the statements below.
Be ready to justify your stand.
1. The early Filipinas have high literacy rate.

E. Application
Activity 2: Lights, Camera, Action!
Directions: Your class will be divided into five.
In your groups, prepare a short skit that shows the difference between then
and now in the Philippines.
F. Generalization
The teacher will ask the students about the summary of today’s lesson.
