ABSTRACT
Objectives: This study aims to identify the effects of Establishing a Piso Wi-Fi
vending machine and the Common challenges that will help to increase the sales of
every entrepreneurship in Barangay Binahian A.
Methodology: In this qualitative research, phenomenology design was used, with the
researcher self-created interview questionnaire. The purposive sampling was
employed to select 3 Piso Wi-Fi owners in Barangay Binahian A, Lopez, Quezon.
Thematic analysis is used to analyze the gathered data.
Findings: The general effects of Piso Wi-Fi on businesses were an increase in sales
and income. Also, business owners encountered challenges that have a huge effect
on their business, reduce their trusted customers, and as well as reduce their sales.
The findings imply that the Piso Wi-Fi helps the participants, not only because it
provides a strong internet connection, but also helps to earn extra income that will
also help them, and can be used for their daily needs.
Recommendations: Strategic planning and implementation of leaflets are highly
recommended for the improvements of managerial skills and strategies of the Piso
Wi-Fi owners, which might help them to boost their sales, and draw more clients.

I. INTRODUCTION
In the Philippines, the Piso Wi-Fi vending machine has become one of the
most well-liked topics. Nearly everyone uses high-speed internet connectivity
because nothing is more annoying than having to wait a few seconds for a page to
reload or a few seconds for a page to buffer. Though it is only intended for sporadic
browsing, business, communication, and enjoyment, nearly everyone relies on a high-

because the device's potential revenue stream is increased by its ability to connect

communication and access to data resources through a sizable number of
institutions (Internet 2020).
However, due to the lack of other internet connections in Barangay Binahian
A, the Piso Wi-Fi has contributed a lot, and it is the thing that they need the most.
Also, it is a self-service, coin-operated machine that allows its users to stay
connected while on the go. Piso WI-FI is fast internet connectivity, all you need to do
is purchase PHP 1 per minute or PHP 20 for 6 hours. In emerging Piso WIFI
businesses, online advertisement is a very important tool for increasing sales and
business exposure, as well as helping the business persuade their existing
customers to act such as valuing the product or service. The fast-paced expansion of
online advertising revenue as compared to traditional media and the Internet (Yasin
and Kadir 2016). Online advertising, on the other hand, web advertising is adaptable
and makes it simpler for the business to update its goods and services (Harbey,
Sharma, and Pant 2013). Customers use this new medium to measure how much
advertising is seen while they are in it and how much they want to see certain
advertisements. Customers will leave right away if they decide that your product (the
Piso Wi-Fi machine) and online marketing are useless (Aziz, Yasin, and Kadir 2016).

browse every social media platform without logging. Also, slow internet connections
cause delays in sending emails, causing logs while you are talking to someone thru
Video calls or Phone calls that might affect how a person communicates. Yet, this
was not mentioned in the study by Alburo, Tindugan, and Dacuno 2020, which
focused on vending machines of a coin-operated nature that can provide the least
expensive Wi-Fi connection. In addition, the J2KLC Wi-Fi vending machine is
designed and heavily motivated by the Pisonet concept; When deciding to launch this
kind of enterprise. Also, the acronym of each researcher led to the creation of the
name "J2KLC," which aims to give the community an easy and affordable option to
connect to the internet while also providing potential clients with a profit. Previous
studies by Zhou and Wang in 2019 also focused on the high speed and ease of
deployment of the Internet, and Wi-Fi networks have grown significantly in response
to the demand for wireless data traffic. Hence, in recent years, a variety of sensing
applications have made extensive utilizing the Channel State Information (CSI) that
Wi-Fi networks record, as well as various Wi-Fi sensing applications, lends itself well
to a variety of wireless internet sensing algorithmic rule and warn preparing
techniques, each of which has advantages and disadvantages of its own. The
primary purpose of this study is to identify the negative and positive effects of PISO
Wi-Fi on the sales of every entrepreneur in Barangay Binahian A. This research study
concerns the qualitative analysis of the owner of the Piso WI-FI vending machine
about the challenges, issues, and problems they will face in the emerging Piso Wi-Fi
in Barangay Binahian A. Emerging technologies that catch on all are typically more
evolutionary than revolutionary because technology cannot succeed on its own. In
conducting this research, the researcher will collect all data from the participants
base on the qualitative information through a survey and thematically analyze the
data.
Similarly, with the above-mentioned research and studies, also the
researcher believes that emerging Piso Wi-Fi helps to increase the sales of every
entrepreneurship in Barangay Binahian A. Hence, this study is proposed.
Research Questions
This research paper aims to determine the effects of emerging Piso Wi-Fi
on the sales of every entrepreneur in Barangay Binahian A. This study sought to
answer the following questions:
1. What are the effects of establishing a Piso Wi-Fi vendo machine?
2. What are the common challenges in emerging Piso Wi-Fi vending machines in
Barangay Binahian A that affect the sales of every entrepreneurship?
3. How do previous and current sales perform in every entrepreneurship in Barangay
Binahian a, before and after the utilization of Piso Wi-fi?
4. What strategic plan can be proposed based on the research Findings?

II. BRIEF REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
This section will discuss the identified variables based on the research
questions, such as (1) the Effects of Piso Wi-fi, (2) Common challenges in emerging
Piso Wi-fi vending machines, and (3) The previous sales of every entrepreneurship,
before and after the utilization of Piso Wi-fi. Journals, articles, documents, electronic
materials, and other sources are gathered and analyzed toward the general concepts
of the research study.
Effects of Piso Wi-fi
A miniature internet or gaming device is called Piso Net/Wi-Fi, sometimes
known as "hulog-piso. Coins can be put into the machine as a sign of compensation

verify the compatibility of computing hardware for wireless networking. According to
some articles, this company enables customers to pay for internet access with a
small sum of money rather than requiring them to sign up for pricey plans like those
provided by telecommunications providers like Globe Telecom or Smart
Communications. For as little as 20 pesos, customers can purchase internet access,
which gives them unlimited data usage until midnight on the same day.
According to the research by Maxcom (2012-2017), Wi-Fi vending machine
is particularly well-liked in Taiwan. The system is a coin-operated Wi-Fi hotspot pay
terminal that offers indoor venue owners a fee-based or free registration Wi-Fi option
(examples are Tea houses, variety shops, and department stores). By connecting to
the Wi-fi vending machine (wireless Wi-fi), it offers visitors an instant Wi-Fi hotspot
service. Customers simply tap their smartphones on the kiosk's screen to use the
service. It depends on how many hours the consumer wants to browse the internet; A
coin is also put in to access it. The Wi-fi vending machine by Maxcom (2012-2017)
served as the inspiration for the concept among those who are less well off yet have
begun to use information and communication, which is also discussed in the article
of Soriano (2019). Technologies (ICTs) are widely used. The Pisonet operates like

cafes in Dagupan City. Due to their popularity in low-income areas, numerous Internet
providers had to close because their customers preferred nearby prison/WI-FI
equipment that was frequently just a few steps from residences.

Conceptual Framework

III. SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
This research study is conducted to determine the effects of establishing a
Piso Wi-fi vending machine in increasing sales among entrepreneurs in Barangay
Binahian A; To be specific, the previous and current sales of entrepreneurs.
This research study is limited to participants. There are inevitable
limitations, and one of these is the availability of Piso Wi-Fi owners that served as the
participants of this research study. The researcher will use the Phenomenology
method.
IV. METHODOLOGY
A. Research Design
This research study is conducted based on the design of the
Phenomenology method, where Interviews and observations are both used in this
method. Combining several pieces of information through interviews and
observations resulted in a more accurate analysis or interpretation of a situation.
B. Research Locale
The researcher conducted the study at Barangay Binahian A, in the
municipality of Lopez, province of Quezon. The researcher believes that this
Barangay is the best place for the research to conduct the study to identify the
effects of establishing Piso Wi-Fi among the targeted participants of this research
study entitled, "A phenomenological study about the effect of establishing Piso Wi-Fi
Vending machine in increasing the sales among entrepreneurship in Barangay
Binahian A, Lopez, Quezon.
C. Population and Sampling
The study is participated by 3 owners of the Piso Wi-Fi vending machine
(Participant), particularly this research aimed to study the effect of the Piso Wi-Fi
vending machine on the sales of every entrepreneur in Barangay Binahian A; The
stratified random sampling has the aim to achieve concrete samples and data.
D. Research Instrument
For the instrument of this study, the researcher used a Structured interview,
in a structured interview, a set of interviewees were each given questions and will be
recorded with the aid of a standardized process. The researcher asks for the
assistance of the teacher in validating the instrument used. Also, the researcher will
use Non-directive interviews that include open-ended questions. According to
Smartsurvey (2023), an open-ended inquiry demand that the respondent uses their
own words to explain their response. These offer the participants to add more details
than a straightforward yes or no.
E. Data Gathering Procedures
In gathering the data, the researcher followed the following steps in
collecting the data:
1. The researcher must focus on current issues, by confirming already facts or
highlighting fresh perspectives.

2. The researcher will be going to send a private letter to the respective Barangay
captain of Barangay Binahian A, asking for permission to conduct the study.
3. Another letter was also sent to the selected participants, to ask for their
permission to participate in the research study.
4. The actual interviews with the participants, but also with the authorization of our
practical research teacher, as well as the permission of the Barangay captain of
Barangay Binahian A.
5. The researcher will decode every participant's response into thoughts.
6. Analyzing, it seems natural that the researcher will break down a big amount of
data into smaller pieces by analyzing each participant's response to decrease data
and interpret it to conclusions.
7. Lastly, to show effective data in this research paper, the researcher will employ
tables.
F. Data Analysis
The researcher used thematic analysis in this research. These are the
following steps in making a thematic analysis.
Step 1: Gather data.
Step 2: Carefully analyze and read the data that gather.
Step 3: Coding.
Step 4: Creates a new code to differentiate the collected data.
Step 5: Evaluate the information based on the data that gather.
Interview and observation are both used to interpret every participant's
response. This phase will be used to develop a thematic analysis base on the data
that the researcher collected from assertions and interpretations of the meaning of
data from all participants in this study.
G. Ethical Consideration
Anytime they choose, the participants can join or leave the research study.
Participants should be aware also of the study's goal, advantages, risks, and finding.
However, whether the researcher knows who the participants are, anyone else
shouldn't know. Also, to prevent others from connecting to the data, the researcher
should anonymize personally the identifiable information of the participants, and
there should be no kind of harm to your participants, including social and
psychological.
IV. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
This part of the research paper presents the analysis and interpretation of
the gathered data through the use of Thematic Analysis. Findings were presented
using tables to show the connection of all variables.

Table 1 shows all of the responses of the participants concerning the

Effects of Piso Wi-Fi. The data tells that most of the participants of this research
study rely on the Internet. And based on the collected data, Piso Wi-Fi is one of the
major factors that helps the participants to increase their monthly income and sales.
The findings imply that the Piso Wi-Fi affects the participants, and one of
these is having easy access to the internet and, to all networking sites like Facebook,
Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Netflix, Telegram, Viber, Litmatch, and many more; but
also because it provides a strong internet connection because nothing is more
annoying than having to wait a few seconds for a page to reload or a few seconds for
a page to buffer. Though it is only intended for sporadic browsing, business,
communication, and enjoyment, nearly everyone relies on a high-speed internet
connection; based on the data that the researcher collected, Piso Wi-Fi also helps
participants to make extra income and help the participants with their daily needs.

The same findings of research by Maxcom (2012-13), indicate that, by

subscriptions and local content, leading to a "bad internet for poor people", that stops
users from exploring and discovering the global internet. In general, low-end gadgets

connection and information constraints that significantly limit what young people can

Table 3 shows all of the responses of the participants concerning the previous
and current sales of every entrepreneurship in Barangay Binahian A; To be specific,
before and after the utilization of Piso Wi-fi. It also indicates that there is a large gap
between the Previous and Current of every Entrepreneurship that will affect their
income and sales.
The findings revealed that there is a big difference when it comes to the
income and sales of the participants, then and now. Before, they didn't have a Piso Wi
-Fi machine, they only earn around Php 5,000-Php 20,000, and now that they have a
Piso Wi-Fi machine, their income, and sales are rise-up, up to Php 30,000. Also, Piso
Wi-Fi business helps them to support their family's needs; depending on the time of
year, prices might range from P300 ($7.5) during the sluggish or wet season to P600
($10.2) during the busiest times. The Piso Wi-Fi owner may also act as its manager
due to its low maintenance design or caretaker, in charge mostly of changing money
and making sure users don't steal the device.
Similar to the study done by Soriano (2019), the sales of just one Piso Wi-Fi
unit range from Php 200 to Php 500 every day, or P6,000 to P15,000 per month, but
they can go up to P44,000 in a month. About the number of users and what
computers you possess, your sales may vary.

Distribution of leaflets
The researcher will distribute leaflets, also known as ILAEBBA
(Implementation of Leaflets among the Entrepreneurs in Barangay Binahian A), that
can use to enhance the managerial skills and strategies of the Piso Wi-Fi owners in
terms of making solutions concerning the challenges and effects of Piso Wi-Fi
business to their sales. An informational leaflet is a piece of paper having specific
information on it (Miller, 2019). Leaflets can be used to advertise and offer more
information. It has been proven that leaflet displays are an effective way to get
people to notice a specific issue that needs to be fixed. Utilizing leaflets allows for
audience engagement and the dissemination of details that are both understandable
and clear. These leaflets will contain the process of strategic planning.
Strategic planning is used to increase sales. Any business that wants to

accomplish its aims and purposes must engage in the strategic planning process. It
entails a methodical strategy that pinpoints the organization's advantages,
disadvantages, opportunities, and threats before creating an action plan that makes
the best use of available resources to achieve these goals. Strategic planning should
be done in business to make sure the business maintains its edge over competitors
and increases its profitability. These are the following that makes up strategic
planning; (1) Assess industry, competitors, and users trend, (2) Make a SWOT
analysis of your Piso Wi-Fi business (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, and
Threats), (3) Define your business goals when it comes to sales and target market,
and last is (4) Drill down strategies made with SMART ( Specific, Measurable,

V. CONCLUSION
Based on the findings and discussion, the researchers arrived at the
following conclusions:
1. The effects of the Piso Wi-Fi vending machine are that you can easily access the
internet, for example, on social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube,
Twitter, Viber, etc. Additionally, it will enable Piso Wi-Fi's owners to increase their
revenue and sales.
2. The common challenges in emerging Piso Wi-Fi vending machine in Barangay
Binahian A that affect the sales of every entrepreneurship is the following, and those
are some of the major factors to be considered as common challenges, such as
Power interruption, difficulty in assembling the Wi-fi machine parts and heavy rainfall.
3. Before the utilization of Piso Wi-fi, previous sales performance in every
entrepreneurship in Barangay Binahian A is around Php 5,000-Php 20,000. While After
the utilization of Piso Wi-Fi, current sales performance in every entrepreneurship is
around Php 20,000-Php 30,000.
4. The strategic plan developed to increase their sales is distributing leaflets, also
known as ILAEBBA (Implementation of Leaflets among the Entrepreneurs in
Barangay Binahian A), that can be used to enhance the managerial skills and
strategies of the Piso Wi-Fi owners in terms of making solution with regards to the
challenges and effects of Piso Wi-Fi business to their sales.
VI. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the findings and conclusion, this research study proposed the
following recommendations:
1. To ensure that Piso Wi-Fi consumers can use the internet connection for an
extended amount of time, it is advised that Piso Wi-Fi owners innovate their services
by enhancing or modifying their Wi-Fi rates.
2. Owners are recommended to have a portable power bank and Solar Panel System,
just in case there is a brownout or Power interruption, the users of Piso Wi-Fi can still
browse the internet even if there is a block out.
3. The proprietors of Piso Wi-Fi are advised to improve their managerial skills and
abilities, as well as the techniques they might employ to help them boost sales and
draw in more clients.
4. Distribution of leaflets that focuses on developing the Entrepreneurial knowledge
of Piso Wi-Fi owners, which suggest enhancing their basic knowledge with regards to
the Effects of emerging Piso Wi-Fi vending machine in concordance with the sales of
every entrepreneurship in Barangay Binahian A.
