MY JOURNEY IN ART APPRECIATION

The first day of introducing the subject of art appreciation truly caught my attention.
I have so many questions regarding this subject. For instance, what is the difference
between this art subject and the previous field that I’ve studied? How do we appreciate
art? Why do we look and delve ourselves into every creative piece that we’ve
encountered? That is also the period I’ve learned that art isn't just designed to be viewed
solely for its own sake. It's intended to inspire thought by allowing viewers to draw on their
own emotions and pone’s own experiences when seeing it. Additionally, it’s extremely
effective during this sense, and it naturally fosters critical and artistic thinking abilities.

Moreover, on the very first lesson that we tackled, I was able to fully grasp and be
aware of what Humanities and Arts are, how we relate art in philosophy, its contributions
to people in general, culture, society, and most significantly, the appreciation of these
contributions to life itself. First and foremost, humanities study and investigate human
culture and experiences. It is a broad notion that encompasses not just the arts but also
a wide range of academic areas. Other than the beginning session, various art forms, as
well as the history of art itself, also captured my interest in the subject. Especially on
where and how art begins and takes place. Still, one of the most important things to keep
in my mind for the whole quest is that art is the magnificent result of our limitless ideas,
experiences, and emotions. I've come to realize that art is universal since all artistic
endeavors, regardless of their form, can engage everyone in the art world. It has the
potential to make individuals comprehend what the artist is attempting to imagine and
communicate to each of us. Specifically, throughout the first semester discussions, Van
Gough’s art pieces have a special place in my heart. His works are very surreal and
beyond imagination. It is simply aesthetically fulfilling. Van Gough indeed did his best to
catch our heart, drawn as in, make our mind see that a lot is going on in his artwork. Aside
from Van Gough, all the creator that has been mentioned in art appreciation shows how
restless and untamed was an artist's mind to create such vision, creativity, and a
showpiece for the individual to treasure and pass down from generation to generation.

Truly, this short but amazing voyage has impacted my perspective and
understanding of art. Thus, the professor did not fail to deliver such mind-blowing facts,
prompting us to go beyond what greets the eye and to consider the perspectives of others
and makes us experience significant events regarding arts. Also, I was able to express
myself in the purest form possible, without regard for borders or justification and learn to
appreciate art in a variety of ways. Always remember, regardless of the passage of time,
as long as we continue to crave and experience it, art will never fade.
