EASYDOSE G2 INTRODUCTION
SAFETY NOTES

Read the operations manual before applying

power and attempting to operate the equipment.

This system is equipped with special devices and alarms to permit continuous
safe operation. However, it is possible that individuals may at some time
encounter liquid nitrogen in the open.

The user should be aware that liquid nitrogen has the following properties:

 Clear
 Colorless
 Non-flammable
 Extremely cold (-320F, -195C)
 Will freeze skin on contact
 May cause severe burns on contact

Extreme care must be taken to avoid liquid nitrogen splashing on clothing, into
shoes, or even into gloves.

When working with liquid nitrogen the following PPE is recommended:

 Eye/Face - Splash-proof safety goggles or face shields

 Hands - Cryogenic or water proof thermally insulated gloves
 Body - Long pants and closed toe shoes

Pressure relief valves are provided in critical zones to avoid damage from
excessive pressure build-up in confined areas. If additional plumbing is added,
include safety relief valves where needed.

The protections provided could be impaired if the equipment is not operated in

accordance to this manual.

EASYDOSE G2 OPERATION
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

SYMPTOM A: Dosing valve not operating

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
1. Elec. problem/Solenoid driver (G2 PLUS) 1. See chart at end of section.
2. Dosing turned to “OFF” 2. On home screen, turn “Dosing” to “ON”
3. Blown fuse 3. Check fuses inside EASYDOSER control panel. Replace
if necessary. Determine cause of blown fuse. See wiring
diagrams for fuse specifications.
4. Valve stem or solenoid operator worn or 4. Follow EASYDOSE G2 WARM-UP/PURGE
contaminated with moisture. PROCEDURE. Remove and inspect dosing valve stem for
moisture or wear. Clean or replace if necessary.
5. “Product Sensor” failing to operate 5. Ensure “Product Sensor” is positioned correctly
properly. according to INSTALLATION/MOUNTING.Check light on
sensor to ensure power is present. Disable product sensor.
If dosing resumes when disabled, then adjust/replace
sensor. Ensure sensor is properly connected see wiring
diagrams and replace sensor if necessary.
6. “Timing Sensor” failing to operate 6. Ensure “Timing Sensor” is positioned correctly according
properly. to INSTALLATION/ MOUNTING SCHEMATIC. Check light
on sensor to ensure power is present. Ensure sensor is
properly connected see wiring diagrams and sensor if
necessary. Sensor output light should blink as it sees its
target. PLC input corresponding to sensor should also
respond to sensor seeing target. If it does not open, check
wiring. If wiring is correct, replace sensor.

SYMPTOM B: Dosing valve operating but insufficient or no amount of LN2 is dispensed

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
1. LN2 supply valve closed 1. Determine reason and open.
2. Low storage tank liquid level 2. Fill storage tank.
3. Low storage tank pressure 3. Increase pressure (but not beyond 22 psig (1.5 BAR)
4. Nozzle plugged with ice 4. Follow EASYDOSE G2 WARM-UP/PURGE PROCEDURE to
warm-up nozzle area. Ensure that splashing product is not
contaminating the nozzle area causing it to become plugged.

SYMPTOM C: Ice or frost on outlet of EASYDOSER

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
1. Loose nozzle 1. Ensure nozzle seal is in place and nozzle is tightened to 100 in-lb
(11.3 N-m).
2. Outlet heater not operating 2. Ensure heater is properly connected. Check for 24VDC at heater.
If 24VDC not present check wiring to control panel and terminal
block fuses. Check resistance of heater If it does not match the
approximate values below then replace heater.
10 watt heater: 57 ohms 16 watt heater: 36 ohms
3. Damaged Nozzle Seal 3. Check seal on nozzle for damage. Replace with new seal if
necessary.

US Patent No. 5,743,096 VACUUM BARRIER CORPORATION 13

EASYDOSE G2 OPERATION
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
SYMPTOM D: Ice or frost on vent of EASYDOSER
POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
1. Vent heater not operating 1. Ensure heater is properly connected. Check for 24VDC at
heater. If 24VDC not present check wiring to control panel. Check
resistance of heater, if not approximately 26 ohms replace heater.
See wiring diagram.

SYMPTOM E: Dosing valve leaking

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
1. Valve contamination 1. Ice or product contaminations in outlet area of EASYDOSER can
prevent valve stem to seat properly and cause leakage past valve
stem. Follow EASYDOSE G2 WARM-UP/PURGE PROCEDURE to
warm up EASYDOSER. Remove valve stem and visually inspect for
damage, replace if necessary. Thoroughly clean and dry the nozzle
and the the tapered end of the valve stem. Once clean and dry,
reinstall in EASYDOSER.
2. Loose nozzle 2. Tighten nozzle to 100 in-lb (11.3 Nm)
3. Damaged Nozzle Seal 3. Remove nozzle per NOZZLE CHANGE PROCEDURE. Check
seal on nozzle for damage. Replace with new seal if necessary.

SYMPTOM F: Vent leaking LN2

POSSIBLE CAUSE ACTION
1. Unit contamination 1. Internal ice or contaminations of the EASYDOSER can prevent
inlet valve to close properly and can cause leakage. Follow
EASYDOSE G2 WARM-UP/PURGE PROCEDURE to warm up
EASYDOSER. Contact VBC.

SYMPTOM G: Container pressure problems

PROBLEM ACTION
1. Container Pressures too low -View with strobe light or high speed camera to check
synchronization of dose into container. If incorrect adjust the
Offset Distance as outlined in the “EASYDOSE G2
OPERATION” section
-Increase Dose Duration.
-Use larger nozzle if necessary.
-Contact VBC
2. Container Pressures too high -Decrease Dose Duration.
-If dose duration is at minimum setting (below) and pressure is
still too high, then install smaller nozzle.
-Contact VBC
Minimum dose duration:
EASYDOSE G2 PLUS: 6 ms
EASYDOSE G2 STD: 25 ms
3. Container Pressures -Check container fill levels to determine if they are widely
varying widely varying also. This will cause widely varying container pressures.
-Check for sloshing and discharge of Nitrogen before capping.
-Contact VBC
- Check the # of pulses delivered by the encoder at the
“Advanced Settings” screen. The # of pulses must be consistent
for all bottles at all line speeds.
