Summary:
Aneurysms of the pulmonary arteries are unusual malformations of the
pulmonary circulation. They frequently show no symptoms and are discovered by
accident during imaging or an autopsy. It is critical that patients with these conditions
undergo close monitoring because pulmonary artery aneurysms can suddenly dissect,
rupture, and cause death. Due to the rarity of this disease, the number of studies on the
management of pulmonary artery aneurysms is limited and contested in the scientific
literature.
Here, we describe the case of a 62-year-old woman who went to the ER
complaining of shortness of breath and was found to have a pulmonary artery aneurysm
measuring 5.0 x 6.4 cm on computed tomography angiography (CTA) imaging.
In addition, a bronchoscopy was supposed to be performed to investigate the
source of her dyspnea, but it was canceled along with a cardiothoracic operation
because doctors decided the risks outweighed the benefits while she was still
asymptomatic and hemodynamically stable. They settled on a conservative approach to
patient care, which included serial imaging and close observation.
Furthermore, a repeat CTA at the patient's subsequent 6-month follow-up
showed a 15% decrease in the size of the PAA, and conservative management is still
the patient's course of treatment. In this instance, there were no issues or negative
results.
In conclusion, the case presented here emphasizes the importance of
considering conservative management as the first line of therapy in asymptomatic,
hemodynamically stable patients regardless of aneurysm size. A person's risk for
aneurysmal dissection, rupture, and death may increase due to certain risk factors, thus
clinical judgment should be used to decide whether surgery is necessary. However,
serial imaging should be taken into consideration first in stable patients without risk
factors.

Summary:
According to the study that I've read, I concur with the notion that, before carrying
out significant surgeries on a patient, we need to first conduct all of the following
diagnostic tests in order to determine what it is that we actually need to work on. In this
instance, it was a wise decision to pursue conservative management rather than
operations. With the current outcome for the client, there were no complications or
negative outcomes.
Unfortunately, I have never personally dealt with an aneurysm; nevertheless,
while reading about the illness, I had the chance to learn more about it. This is a difficult
condition to have because it could lead to undesirable outcomes. This is why we must
seek medical assistance, as they can provide us with proper care that will help us attain
optimal health.
Nevertheless, this study has a positive impact as it presented a conservative
approach in dealing with this condition where they prioritize the client’s best possible
outcome. However, Due to how rare this disease is, there aren't many studies on how to
treat pulmonary artery aneurysms (PAA), and these studies aren't always in agreement.
In this case, additional studies and cases are needed to develop more reliable
approaches in managing patients with PAAs.
In conclusion, the publication of this study represented a significant advancement
in the field of nursing research because it presented a new approach in providing the
best possible care to this kind of condition in which they can use as a resource for their
upcoming pertinent studies. It also provides nurses with a reference point from which to
draw when determining the best course of treatment for their clients. Regarding nursing
students like me, this article has information that we can instill in our

young minds and apply in the future when we encounter this problem. Now that
we are going to have our actual duty in the hospital, where we may encounter clients
with this condition, we could present this study to our clinical instructor to which we can
based our nursing actions. Thus, this study has presented knowledge that is both
understandable and trustworthy, which will be beneficial to nursing education.
