THE LION AND THE MOUSE
It was a summer day. A lion was resting under a tree. A little
mouse lived in a hole nearby. As the mouse come out of his hole,
it rolled over the body of lion. The lion was angry. It caught the
mouse and was about to kill it. The mouse said, “I am a small
creature but I may be of help to you some time in the future.”
The lion laughed at the words of the mouse and let it to go.

After a few days, the lion was caught in a trap. It tried


hard but could not free itself. It roared for help. The little
mouse heard the roar of the lion. It arrived at the spot and
nibbled the strings of the net. In shot while, the lion was free.
It thanked the mouse.

Moral: DO GOOD, HAVE GOOD

THE FOX AND THE GRAPES
It was a hot summer day. A fox was hungry. It went here and
there in search of food. But it could not get anything to eat.

At last, the fox entered a garden. There, the fox saw a


bunch of ripe grapes. It wanted to them. Its mouth watered on
seeing the grapes. It jumped again and again but failed every
time. The grapes were too high to reach. At last the fox was
tired. It said to itself, “these grapes are sour” I should not eat
them.

THE HARE AND THE TORTOISE
Once, a hare saw a tortoise walking slowly with a heavy shell on
his back. The hare was very proud of itself and it asked the
tortoise, “Shall we have a race?”

The tortoise agreed. They started running the race. The


hare ran very fast. But the tortoise walked very slowly and
steadily. The proud hare rested under a tree and soon slept off.
But the tortoise walked very fast, slowly and steadily and
reached the goal. At last, the tortoise won the race.

THE HOUSE
Once a rat that was feeling bored, came out of his hole to see
the world. He went to a garden where he saw a big cat and got
frightened. So, he hid himself under a big leaf that was the
dwelling place of a tortoise.

The tortoise yelled at him. What are you doing here?

The rat fled from there in search of another shelter and


happened to pass over a gardeners feet. The gardener shouted
at him, what are you doing here? Go back to your home.

The rat fled away from there and ran straight to his hole, took a
sigh Oh! relief and thought, East or West, home is the best.
