The Important Role of The Community in Developing Village Tourism

Tourism is one of the alternative sectors that can improve the economy in the village.
The implementation of the tourism sector in the village certainly requires the participation of
various levels of society. Not only local village officials but local community members to
village youths must also be involved in building village tourism areas.

One of the way that can be applied to building village tourism areas is with the
existence of Pokdarwis (Kelompok Sadar Wisata) institutions. Kelompok Sadar Wisata
(Pokdarwis) is a group that has an important role and contribution in the development of
regional tourism. Pokdarwis was established in the regions and managed by the local village
community with supervision by local officials in implementing the work program to develop
tourism charm in their area. The establishment of this Pokdarwis also aims to improve and
build positive attitudes and support from the local community as the host of a tourist area, by
introducing, preserving, and utilizing the potential of tourist attractions that exist in each
region.

One of the areas that is pioneering village tourism is the Kraton Village, which is
located in Maospati District, Magetan Regency. In the Kraton village itself, there are
currently two Pokdarwis that have started running. The two Pokdarwis that have been
running include the Pokdarwis Sendang Kamal and the Pokdarwis Kraton Square . The first
is Pokdarwis Sendang Kamal. This Pokdarwis is responsible for building and developing the
tourism side of the historical place, namely the Sendang Kamal. One of the programs that has
been held in this area is the "Panen Raya Ikan Nila" in the framework of the anniversary of
Magetan Regency, where the fish harvested are the result of cultivation in the Sendang area.
The next is, Pokdarwis Kraton Square, this group oversees every development in Kraton
Square. Kraton Square itself is a multipurpose area for people where in this place there are
several sports facilities that can be used by the community to exercise. On the other hand,
there is also a children's play area so this place is a child-friendly area. Because of its location
in the center of the village, this place is very easy to find. Not infrequently, many people from
other villages visit this place just to sit and relax on the benches provided while enjoying the
atmosphere or doing sports such as jogging, soccer in the fields, and others. This area will
also be developed for a place to eat where the seller is a local resident who has a small or
medium culinary business.

From the existence of the two organizations formed, it is hoped that it will open up
opportunities for the surrounding community. With the existence of Pokdarwis, of course, it
will require a lot of human resources, both from community leaders, civilians, to young
people who must also be involved in developing existing programs. As already mentioned
above that later in the village tourist area there will be a place to eat, this of course can be a
job opportunity for people who have businesses in the culinary field to develop their
business. Especially if they can introduce regional specialities food in their culinary business,
it will definitely be a plus value. Not only that, in building a village tourism, it definitely
requires a lot of people to manage the tourist area, for example, to take care of plants, manage
trade fees and parking lots, maintain the cleanliness of the tourist area, and others. Of course,
this will help the local community because they can get their work from here and participate
in managing their village tourism. On the other hand, the management of a village tourism is
also not spared from the contribution of the youth. Because they are the ones who are
expected to be the promoters or parties who will attract the millennial community to visit the
place. So here, it can be a place for them to gain knowledge about how to manage the tourism
business, develop their creativity and also learn about how to organize in a pluralistic society.

Therefore, in the process of developing village tourism it requires coordination

between layers of society. Both from the agency that manages the place and also the
supervision of the local government. Because managing this place is our responsibility which
can form a synergy. So that all parties involved can benefit from here, especially to improve
the community's economy for the better and introduce the potential of the area.
